Regardless of the reason, then, I think we can all agree that Pontiac deserves a big heartyy Fuck you.
Of course it’s been to California. It was built there. However, there’s no logical reason for it to have been in Oklahoma. Pontiac doesn’t have a plant there, and a dealer in New Jersey is not going to be swapping stock with one in Oklahoma.
Well, yes, but that goes without saying. Honestly, anyone who buys a GM product deserves a swift kick in the goolies.
So what? Are you saying that this recall fix was performed in 2008 before it even existed? No? Then why do you keep bringing up the fact that it may have been in Oklahoma at some point in its lifetime?
Ivn188 has never been on anyone’s list of credible critics. Seriously, the stick up his ass has a stick up it’s ass. Rand Rover too. I’d put them on ignore except that they’re not worth that much effort.
Chill.
Frankly, I still don’t believe there’s much of anything wrong here. Let’s just say that a perfectly normal number of these “runaway” vehicles were being driven by the elderly - and it’s normal because the elderly are the ones who usually do that anyway.
Actually the recall fix could have been performed earlier as part of another fix, as I have explained. But I don’t insist on it. It’s just that it’s not true that his car could never have been in OK at any time. And RNATB, cars that get ordered come from wherever there is a car, and are just put on the transporter next time one goes through. Also Oklahoma is kind of halfway between CA and NJ.
And you’ve never been on anyone’s list of anything. That’s because you’re eminently forgettable and you have the personality of a styrofoam cup.
Fine, the car could have been in Oklahoma. It’s still extremely unlikely- and again, this fix has only existed for about three months.
We’re not talking about a Lamborghini. It’s a Pontiac Vibe. If there was one in Oklahoma there were eight in New Jersey.
Which the fuck part of “I don’t insist on it” is not apparent to you? Like I said about six fucking times already, it’s only possible. I don’t know, or give a shit, if his car has or hasn’t been repaired or where it has or hasn’t been repaired. I do know that the OP is obviously a bit unhinged.
You’d be unhinged if you’d owned two Pontiacs in a row.
Ow. I’m wounded. Mortally even. See? I’m dieing here.
Also, since I didn’t see this, yes. There will be some in NJ. How many of them are mint green with the beige cloth interior, moonroof package, automatic transmission, and optional alloy wheels?
One of my cars came from a dealership in North Dakota, which is not where I live. It was brand new. Jesus Christ, this is not rocket science.
No, you moron, it could not have been performed earlier as part of another fix. I don’t know what temporal time shift you are envisioning, but one more time: the part required to fix the problem did not exist in 2008. So chill out on the Oklahoma thing, Dr. Who. Your alternate timeline just doesn’t fly.
Then your dealer was stupid. Or you have really fucking strange taste.
I’ll give ivn1188 this point, and only this point. Dealers will ship a specific build-out from wherever it is available. When I was buying a few years back, the found a car close to the one I wanted in CA, but not in the right color (actually, it was a pretty shitty color). So I waited for the build and the slow ship from Japan.
That said, no dealer will do a recall fix before the recall is implemented and before the recall piece built and distributed. It is that it might have happened. It could not have happened. To not realize your mistake after being told this several times really cements your standing as one of the SDMB’s pre-eminent simpletons and rectal orifices.
Oh? Sorry, I must be in the wrong room.
is built and distributed.
isn’t
According to the OP’s recollection, his vehicle has never been in Oklahoma. The dealer and Pontiac representative claim that this particular recall was made in Oklahoma. The only possible time his car could have been in Oklahoma was before he purchased it, which was two years before the recall ever existed. So how in your mind is it possible that this fix was made in Oklahoma in 2008, well before the fix even existed?
Nobody has denied that his car may have spent some time in Oklahoma before he bought it. This is the particular scenario that you posit, after all. With the Pontiac dealer/representatives claiming that this fix was made in Oklahoma, and the fact that the only way his car spent time in Oklahoma was before the recall existed, there is no logical way that his car would have been fixed in Oklahoma, not as a standalone fix and not as part of another fix.
I can’t imagine you have a particularly tough profession if this is the sort of critical thinking skills you have at your disposal. I’m thinking you are a meter maid, but that involves the understanding of temporal events, so I’m probably shooting too high here.
Go back and have the service manager write you up a receipt stating that the repair was installed, and or bring a friend to videotape the exchange. Then take the car to another mechanic and pay them them to check for the modification.
When service provider confirms the modification was not installed, ask them to document it. If its something you can add to your video clearly, do so.
File small claims court case to recover your money from dealer. Video and invoices will make for an excellent presentation in court. Don’t forget to add lost wages for taking the car to other mechanic and the second trip to dealer.
“Beloved Pontiac Aztec” Does not compute.
Thank you for the the replies. I must admit I was joking when I was talking about the car could kill me. I know to put it in Neutral and to use the brakes to come to a stop. I was ranting more about how the dealership is believing a computer entry more than the car owner.
I bought the car new so there were no owners before me.
The Aztek was a great car. It was roomy and comfortable. I spent many a night sleeping in the drivers seat in a parking lot just because I was tired where I was. The cargo area was huge which I loved and you could always find it in a parking lot.
Some of it’s appeal was it’s not east on the eyes which is the same category I’m in.
On a positive note Pontiac has agreed that my car has not been fixed and it is now scheduled for Saturday again.
