As you all probably know we’ve been undergoing a spampocalypse over the last few days. We’ve been working to keep the inconvenience to our users at a minimum.
We’ve been doing our best but we’re all deeply grateful for those of you who have reported each incidence of spam. Without your extra eyes we might have missed some and allowed our spamming invaders to make some gains via their obnoxious behavior.
Again, thank you for your efforts. I know you all hear a lot that you should report posts you think are questionable and it would be easy to take that as empty boilerplate. It’s not, I assure you. And never has it been more helpful for you fine people to report posts than over the last - and probably next - few days.
Well, I haven’t been around to see any of these spam attacks, but you can rest assured that if I was, I would have been one of those much-appreciated posters who *immediately *reported it. So therefore I accept your 'Thank you" and I’ll respond by saying “You’re very welcome.”
Well, along those lines I feel I’ve been taken for granted too. You know about that infant who fell out of the third floor window and that guy in the rain who caught it? If I would’ve been that guy I would’ve caught it too. So, “You’re welcome.”
It was kind of like a game after a while… I kept getting mad that running coach would beat me to a spammer, only to feel fist-pumpingly triumphant when I got to another before anyone else.
ETA: And thanks Mods, for acknowledging our efforts and for being there for the follow-thru; I know I’m not alone when I say that we consider this “our” board and we want it to continue to be a great place.
This entire discussion appears to be in reference to the infestation of reddit spam that was recently discussed in another ATMB thread.
But what about the board-hijacking video ads that were discussed in another recent thread? Those seem to be far worse, as they render the board unaccessible (as opposed to merely annoying). Have those been abated yet?
