A Birthday Email from my Mother-In-Law

Today’s my B-Day.

Here’s the first Email I get in my inbox at work, from my Mother-In-Law:

:expressionless:

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to do something fun!!

Bittersweet Birthday to you!

You share a birthday with an ex-girlfriend and Teller (who met each other once in early February).

Interesting, kind of a mixed message there, but at least she took the time to send an e-mail. What fun thing are you going to do?

Happy birthday, Morbo! Should I tell you about all the crap that’s going wrong in my life right now? :stuck_out_tongue:

My future in-laws totally forgot my birthday; it was last Thursday. I got a Valentine’s Day card from them the other day and was initially upset, but, well, it comes with the territory of having a birthday near any sort of holiday. When my future MIL found out yesterday, she felt quite bad about it, so no hard feelings. Eventually someone will forget it, and it’s common enough with me that I don’t care that much anymore. It just made me loathe Valentine’s Day.

Oh, happy birthday!

Happy Belated B-Day to you. Try having it ON Valentine’s Day. I can go on and on about loathing Valentine’s Day, but that’s another thread, and I’m way too chipper after that Email.

Happy Birthday, Morbo!

I got fired today, my dog ran away last week and this morning I ran over him with my car. My house burned down, I have uromysitisis and have been given two weeks to live.

Have a great day!

Happy birthday, Morbo!

My dad got a similar birthday greeting last year. His brother’s wife sent a card in both of their names and wrote something to the effect of “Happy birthday! By the way, your brother has prostate cancer.” :smack: What made it worse was that my uncle didn’t respond to my dad’s phone calls or e-mails for several weeks.

Over the years we’ve accepted that my dad’s side of the family is socially clueless. Could that be the case with your mother-in-law? It’s possible she just didn’t realize the message was inappropriate.
