That’s what my husband is paying to have his laundry done. $1.00 per pound of dirty clothes to be washed, dried, and folded.
No, I didn’t go on strike and force him to take his skivvies elsewhere - he got a job 800 miles from me. He’s living on our boat until our daughter goes off to college, at which point I’ll join him and we’ll live happily ever after. There are some coin washers and dryers at the marina, but by the time he buys his detergent and softener, plus the time it’ll take, it’s really a better deal to have it done.
His first week’s worth was just under 20# - work clothes, after work clothes, towels, unders and socks. So he dropped it off, went to work, and when he swings by a few hours later, he’ll have a basket of fresh, clean clothes for another week. I hope he remembered to empty all his pockets - he has a habit of leaving money, combs, pocket knives, miscellaneous screws and bolts, slips of paper - well, you get the idea.
I’m doing my own laundry as well, mine and the Perfect Child[sup]TM[/sup]'s. I don’t think about what it costs because it pretty much happens in the background. The laundry room is off the kitchen, so I can toss in a load and cook or clean or watch TV or get on line or any number of things. The longest time involvement is folding, and that’s usually done in front of the TV, so I’m multitasking. I really don’t mind doing the laundry - it’s mundane and routine, almost soothing, as long as all the socks match up. It’s not worth a buck a pound for me. But I’m glad the option is available for Steve.
Live the good life for a buck a pound! What a country!
