Omni: I had the same problem when I first went in. I was hitting the Tab key to enter my text. Just hit enter.

Badges? You mean the “@” in front of names? If so, that is the irc indication that the person is a channel operator. Someone with “ops” can do things like kick unruly people, change the topic line, op other people, etc. We saw you come in lots of times but you never said anything. Most of us were using the web java version.
Were you using the tab key? That will kick you out. It might be a strange thing that will be fixed when you reboot, too…
