A Christmas Story plot hole?

I agree with that statement completely. And I really liked Elf.

SirRay, sorry to nitpick, but it was the Christmas turkey not a ham. In the short story IIRC it was an Easter roast.

There is at least one indication of Northern Indiana schools being partially segregated in the '30s.

Cool, I get to nitpick the nitpick a bit…:stuck_out_tongue:
OK, maybe in the movie it was a turkey, but in the story as compiled for “Wandy Hickey’s Night of Golden Memories” it most definitely is a ham, sorry, a GLORIOUS HAM (starts at the end of page 36, “The Grandstand Passion Play”).

A little off topic, but while people mention other movies made about Raphie as a boy (especially “It Runs In The Family”), did they ever use any of the other stories about Ralph’s (read: Jean’s) teenage and adult years (the do-you-offend date, the Polish Church dance, the high school math class, the aforementioned Junior Prom date w/ Wandy Hickey, the WWII troop train where he is the “Gravy King”, his disasterous post-WWII New Year’s Eve date, The laxative/fig newton challenge at the college he’s attending under the GI Bill, heck, even some of the wrapper stories where he’s returned to Holman to drink at his friend bar, or he’s complaining about Mayor Ed Koch, or he’s being tailgated by an Expert through a tunnel)
