The graduation was nice and my son is officially done with high school now. He received enough in cash gifts to more than cover the cost of his freshman orientation. He was very happy about all of that. We took him to dinner at one of his favorite restaurants; he luuuurves the crab stuffed ravioli they serve there. He also loves the calimari they serve there. So we ordered to platters of the calimari and a platter of cheese bread for appetizers. There were nine of us, so it’s not like we ate all of that alone. Then I had the chicken marsala for dnner. I couldn’t finish it, so I have the leftovers for lunch or dinner today. It was all very good.
Soapy, I’m sorry yesterday was bad. I hope today is a much better day for you.
I plan on working in my yard today. My daughter is also coming down again today so I can color her hair. She leaves for Missouri on Thursday and this was the best time to get it done.
The weather looks fairly decent at the moment, but I’m not sure what the forecast calls for. I know a few days ago they were talking about rain showers for today, but our forecast seems to change all the time.
I believe that this point cannot be emphasized enough.
Congrats to TatersSon on his graduation!
I’m back from Cincinnati-ish. Nice send-off for niece and her pilgrimage group. I believe I deserve extra fashion points as I remembered to wear red. And I was the only one in the family who remembered. All the people up front were in red, but those sitting toward the back were less uniform in color.
Gotta go look for a few small butterfly bushes and then it’s off to work for a while.
I’m hoping it doesn’t take long so that I can do a lot of planting and weeding when I get back.
Interestingly enough, when I opened my dictionary and looked up “gay” there was a photo of swampy. I was not at all surprised…
Home, showered, achy, and pooped. Our topping lift let loose last night. For the non-yachty among you, it’s the line that goes from the top of the mast (that’s the big tall tree-like structure that the sails are attached to) to the aft (back) end of the boom (the vertical hunk of aluminum or wood that the foot (bottom) of the mainsail (main sail) attaches to. The topping lift holds up the end of the boom when the sail is not raised, except when it lets loose and the boom falls and goes, well, BOOM!
**FCD **had to go back home and get his tools (you’d think we’d have a toolbox on the boat) so I put a second coat of Cetol on the teak, except for the teak in the cockpit, since the boom and the sail were laying across much of it. The grab rails and the trim around the cabin top as well as the teak trim on the stern is now all beeyooteeful!! When **FCD **got back, he replaced the cable that failed and we put everything back together. Then we put the new sail cover on - it looks pretty good. Then we removed all the masking tape, packed up our stuff, and came home.
I’ve since emptied the dishwasher, run the vacuum, and showered my sweaty self. I’m about to assume the knit position till daughter shows up with her psycho pug. I was going to make dinner, but someone wants to go to Lenny’s, so we shall. Which is fine - no cooking for me. Yay! And next weekend, we’ll finish the rest of the teak. Sometimes I hate owning a boat. Then we go out on the bay and raise the sails, and I remember why I love owning a boat.
I thought you mentioned not too long ago that you were thinking of selling the boat, FCM. Have you changed your minds? Then again, my mind is getting creaky and maybe I was thinking of someone else.
Off to run a bunch of errands, then back home to yard work.
Taters, we did discuss selling it, but it’s probably not going to happen for a while. We’ve almost always had a boat for the last 27 year, and when I really thought about it, I didn’t want to give it up just yet.
Of course, if the boat had more teak than it does, it’d be gone already…
We had an internet crisis this morning, but all is resolved. It did cut into my grocery shopping / coupon clipping time - so I didn’t clip any coupons. Oh well, they’ll keep.
tongiht I’m making a ham and scalloped NOT and steamed broccoli. Plus I’ll have a ham bone for bean soup later this week!
Howdy Y’all! All deheathenated and fed the crowd at N.O.L. Everybody’s gone, the dishwasher is doin’ it’s thang and Ima leave shortly for Vestry meetin’. Still no rain. :dubious:
Been a bzzy day at chez swamp!
MOOOOOOM the OED has twelve pages of nuttin’ but pictures of me for it’s definition of gay.
Heee. The wardrobe conversation reminded me of a gay couple who go to our church and dress very similarly. I’ve been tempted to ask them whether they mix and match their wardrobe because, really, they have the exact same style and appear to wear approximately the same size. Sadly, I don’t know them quite well enough to risk the question. I believe their pictures are found under, see also right after swampy’s pictures in the dictionary.
Back from work (which, of course, took a tad more than the expected 2 hours because the stuff I was verifying was wrong and needed tweaking).
I went to Lowe’s and bought - what else? - more plants. I was going to plant them tonight, but I’m tired and need to do laundry and roast asparagus and just don’t feel like it. So I’ma try to come home early tomorrow and finish lots of planting. Yay!
Off to sort laundry and start the spareguts. Not necessarily in that order.
Anyone have a topic for us tomorrow? I have one for next week.
Supper was good, but $$$ Still, I didn’t have to do dishes, so there’s that. Daughter has taken her psycho dog home with her. I’m about to don my robe and knit till I can’t focus my eyes. Looks like rain is on the way.
Scruffy is suddenly favoring her right rear leg. We can’t see anything wrong with it, but she’s whining. She may be going to the vet tomorrow. I hope we don’t have to find an emergency vet tonight… I’m outta here for now.
Home from Vestry meetin’. Actually have been home for about 45 minutes. Short and sweet meetin’. YAY!!! The Junior Warden and I took an inventory of kitchen supplies. I am the chair of the kitchen committee by virtue of the fact that I said I would be. Thus I get to do stuff like that. Could my life be anymore excitatin’.
Depends on where you set the line for ‘good’. I’ve got two degrees in it (if you count an AS), have had three jobs in the field, was the manager / entire department for four years, and have had a number of freelance jobs. Am I the Michelangelo of graphic design? Not even close, but I manage.
