Gotta go help a friend with plant stuff. Then it’s home to do something in the garden. Tomorrow, I have to get up early to go wish my niece well on her trip to Ireland (they’re having something at their church).
Howdy Y’all! Home from N.O.L. and stuffded! We all decided to go to the used to be bad but now good Chinese buffet place before pool time. Everybody else is out at the pool. I suppose I should be but it’s so cool in da cave and I wanna nap. However, gracious host I must be I suppose. Alas. Life is hard!
Whew - home and exhausted. We got out early to beat the heat, had a quick breakfast, ran to Lowe’s for a few necessities, then on to the boat. It felt like it took forever to sand then mask the teak. Putting on the Cetol (it’s like varnish, but better) took no time at all. So we were in the marina pool by 10. Then we went back to the boat, sanded, masked, and Cetol’d the little bit of teak trim on the stern before returning to the pool.
Then we gathered our stuff together, locked up the boat, went to lunch, then ran to Petco. Today was kitteh adoption day. There were several I wanted. And I gave **FCD **a heart attack when he saw me hand money to the woman there and start writing. No, I wasn’t getting another cat. They were having a raffle so I bought $5 worth. The prize is dinner. The dinners were donated, so all the money goes directly to the rescue folks. So yay for that. And **FCD **bought the stuff he needed, and we came home.
I have a load of jeans in the washer and I’m thinking about taking a nap. I’m tired. All that fresh air and sunshine kicked my butt. I did wear sunscreen - SPF 60. So no burns here.
Oh beautiful beautiful rain! We had some thunderboomers followed by a nice steady shower. Sadly, it’ll end shortly, but the temperature dropped to 70 and my yard and garden are getting a much-needed drink. So yay.
I’m finishing up work on the sail cover - just got to put the trim on the lower edge and it’ll be done, I think. Then I can chill.
Dunno if we’ll do supper - I’m still stuffed from lunch. Yep, another exciting Saturday at FairyChatEstates.
So, gracious host that I am, I did betake myself outside where we frollicked (frolicked?) in the pool for three hours. Then dindin was cooked and et. Everybody is gone home. YAY!!! I mean, love ‘em and all but YAY!!! Dishes are all done an so is da bear. It will probably be an early beddy bye time cause well, tomorow, ten people are showin’ up for N.O.L. I must be insane.
First, Rebo insinuated I am a frequenter of bars over in the feud thread in the game room, a fact we all know is not true, right?
Second, The Jawja Department of Driver Services sent me a postcard today to remind me that my DL is up for renewal before my bday next month. Apparently one can renew one’s license on line. A five year renewal is $15.00 (three dollars a year). An eight year renewal is $30.00 ($3.75 a year). :dubious:
The sail cover is finally done - YAY! We’ll put in on the boat tomorrow. And I just put fresh sheets on the bed, so I get a night of clean-smelling sheets, so yay for that. I’m taking a short break now to do a puzzle, then I’ll hit the shower and hit the clean sheets.
I went to my friend’s (she was having a plant sale; I helped!) and then we went out to a couple of nurseries. Somehow, I bought more than she did. I bought 5 hostas and some million bells (baby petunia-like flowers). I am bad. But they were very pretty and some of them have already been put in the ground.
Now I am going to knit for a bit before crawling into bed. Have to get up very early to go see special send-off service for niece who is going off to Ireland on Tuesday. I am a good godmother. (We won’t let anyone know how unappealing the thought of getting up early tomorrow is, now will we?)
Back from seeing X-Men:First Class. Very good - even Cousin, who doesn’t like the franchise very much, liked it.
Dinner was Teh Yum - salmon sashimi appy, lampchops & couscous, and a Banana Foster Sundae. I am a happy kitteh and shall sleep well - later. Right now I have games to play.
Assuming you’re any good at graphic arts, yes, here’s hoping you get the job.
I’m really getting tired of this 90+ degree weather coupled with similarly high humidity. There’s landscaping to be done here, but the weather is so inhospitable that I have no idea when we’ll ever be able to do it. Just mowing the grass is horrible enough and that’s just cutting the grass. Weeding, trimming and edging will just have to wait!
Lights are blinking with a thunderstorm. Our power is usually pretty unflappable as it’s all underground in the area and we’re nine miles from the nuke plant. The strange thing is that it’s not raining here.
Just to calibrate the senses, we watched Howard The Duck tonight. It’s available for instant streaming on Netflix, otherwise we would not have bothered. Two observations: The SFX were done by Industrial Light and Magic. I think the reality might be that they were done at an ILM facility, but perhaps by actual ducks. Second - George Lucas ought to have changed his name to Alan Smithee for this. Eesh… But, how can you know what’s good if you don’t know what’s bad?
Up early, thanks to the idiot dog. I think we may have gotten more rain overnight, which is great. Except I don’t know how it’ll affect our plans to work on the boat again today. We’ll see when it’s light out.
My back is killing me, especially on the left side. All that bending over to put down masking tape and then more bending while painting on the Cetol - I’m too old for this crap… <sigh> The pain is highly localized, so I must have done something specific, but for the life of me, I don’t remember. I do recall my left knee giving me grief a couple of times - maybe it’s related?
Moving on - daughter is coming over for dinner and bringing her psycho pup. **FCD **misses that idiot dog - he bought some special cookies at Petco yesterday. For the record, he’s never bought me special cookies from anywhere… ever…
Happy Sunday. Ibuprofen for breakfast - we’ll see how well it works.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN ‘Tis 71 Amurrkin out with yet another day of predicted high around a hunnert. However we do have a thirty percent chance of rain. No breath holdin’ shall insue. :dubious:
ShinyCat appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed. Sounds like a gig you’d really like to have!
I find this to be somewhat philosophical. This means that gotti is a deep thinker. Of course it could also mean it’s early and I need more caffiene.
MOOOOOOM chew up one of FCD’s slippers and maybe then he’ll buy you special cookies.
Ok, I need more caffiene and brekkies for rumbly tummy. Plus I need to get Mr. Lasagna out of da fridge to room temp up so’s I can bake him.
Happy Sunday Y’all! For those who celebrate such things, Happy Pentecost Sunday!
It’s been raining all night and all morning so far, I know the ground needs it but it means I can’t do anything in the garden which is a bit annoying!
Last night we watched a really funny film, called Four Lions which is about a bunch of British muslim jihadists who desperately want to go and blow something up but really don’t have a clue. Serious subject, but such a funny film.
I changed the bedding this morning and have sheets in the laundry, I suppose that means I’d better get on with the ironing 'cos the laundry will have to hang in the bathroom once it’s washed and that means I have to shift the stuff that is already dry from yesterday’s laundry.
I ought to vacuum and mop the floors but right now I just can’t see the point.
Well, eatin’ a lot of lasagna will cause one to make masculine noises.
I had to take care of a fashion emergency this mornin’. I had to go to OYKW’s place and get him a red shirt. See, it’s Pentecost and one is supposed to wear red on Pentecost. He had no red shirt here at da cave and I’m wearin’ my reddest shirt. Thus, this had to be resolved. Why, yes, I am gay. Why do you ask?
BTW, we have the same red shirt and both of us are wearin’ khaki pants. Is that just not toooooo special!
