It seems to me that a line has been crossed.
It’s one thing to pit a person for board behavior. The “Zenster is a fuckwit” thread started off that way. I had no problem with the OP – without commenting on whether it was justifiable.
It’s another thing to drag in personal anecdotes about off-board “real-life” meetings, for use in a character assassination on the SDMB. This strikes me as below-the-belt.
If I attend a Dopefest, or develop a personal off-board relationship with Dopers, and some people don’t like me, well, fine. Trash me among yourselves, or in your LiveJournal, or in email to each other, or in email to me, or to my face.
Please don’t Pit me because of anything I did or said off the boards. If I’m ever pitted I hope it’s because of something I said here on the boards, NOT for something I did off the boards.
The whole Zenster thread has left me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I’m sorry I posted in it at all. Anyone with me?
