A conversation between my cousin, RN, PhD, and a friend of hers (long)

Edited formatting to clarify the text – PuzzleGal

Here is a conversation between my cousin and a good friend (of her husband) that wants to gather more data on the vaccine. Please excuse the length, the friend’s name has been removed.

"To Dr. S
I have a good friend that is considering taking the vaccine but wants to know the mechanics of how it works. Are there any articles that speak specifically to the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines that are available? Can you enlighten us both? I’d of course love to share with others too. Thanks Dr. S!

There’s little info on the vaccines themselves, and precious little verification of a) how it works, b) what are the ingredients specifically, and c) why can we be immunized against this virus and no others? Who made up the need for immunization anyway? What is the end game of vaccination? Control? World domination? Enslavenent?

John Doe,
I’m happy to answer questions for you. This resource from the Mayo Clinic is a reliable response to many of the questions people are having about the vaccine. The answers to the most common questions:

All steps of the standard vaccine development process were completed; some of the steps were able to be completed simultaneously because of the infusion of resources and collaboration.

With the global impact of this pandemic, every resource has been focused on developing this vaccine. While there are many other viruses, time, money, and resources have been put into the development of this vaccine because of the devastating way in which this virus attacks the body. And unlike other virus infections that make one sick, and then the person recovers, this virus is causing long-term damage to systems and organs and is also more lethal than other viruses.

The vaccine does not include any form of the coronavirus and it does not alter your DNA. All current vaccines use messenger RNA (mRNA) to stimulate the immune response. This is a process that creates proteins that are then flushed out of the system to build a natural immune response. There is no alteration of human genes in any way.

The only way we will be able to manage the spread of the virus is through vaccinations. It will only be with the majority of people around the world receiving the vaccine that we will get to a place of eradicating this virus.

Dr. S
A few more questions if you would be so kind:

  1. Does this vaccine contain any form or derivative of human or animal fetal tissue?
  2. Has a vaccine ever been developed against common viruses like malaria or dengue, and if not, why not?
  3. Is this virus naturally occurring in nature, or was it developed and/or enhanced in any way, for any purpose?
  4. Why has medicine proven to be effective against this virus, even with co-morbidities, been removed or restricted in the marketplace as has been hydroxychloroquine, azithromycin and others?
  5. Why has information relating to this virus not included transparent reporting of deaths due to corona virus without co-morbidities?
  6. Why has there been little reporting of the risks and probabilities of the results of wearing masks, confinement for long periods and the resulting economic disaster?

It seems to me and MANY others that this virus has been used as a biological weapon against civilized society through fear and manipulation. Honestly, I have not been convinced otherwise, and there doesn’t seem to be any reasonable attempt to do so.

As it is illegal in the USA to restrict our rights and freedoms for any reason, including a medical emergency, I will not accept vaccination until I have been convinced without coersion of its necesity, safety and effectivity. The ball’s in your court, and I do appreciate your effort to educate me.

I’m glad you are looking for answers to these important questions.

John Doe
Absolutely not – the vaccine does not contain any human or animal tissue, fetal or otherwise. The ingredients are clearly listed for each of the vaccines, and they would be legally required to share if there were any tissue ingredients.

Malaria is caused by a parasite, not a virus. Dengue is caused by viruses – four viruses in combination which make it incredibly complex because of the interaction of the four different viruses. And sadly, the ultimate reason that these diseases are not a priority for vaccination is based purely on economics and privilege – these are not diseases that impact first-world countries, therefore there is neither money or resources to put into research and development of cure or prevention of these.

The virus is naturally occurring. Scientists have identified the entire genome and clearly linked this virus to the other seven known coronaviruses known to infect humans, including SARS, MERS, and SARS-CoV. If the virus was created in a lab, the genetic code would have revealed that, and there is no evidence in the entire genome.

There were some slight indications during the early use of hydroxychloroquine that it may have been effective, but scientific evaluation shows there is no consistent measurable outcome. Additionally, the very serious side effects of the medication, including cardiac damage, do not justify the use of the medication when there is no evidence that it consistently works. Azithromycin is an antibiotic, which is not effective against a virus. The use of this medication is indicated for the subsequent development of pneumonia after the Covid-19 diagnosis, but does not impact the coronavirus, itself.

The lack of consistency in reporting is due to the lack of a federal plan for tracking and reporting. For example, in Oregon, the Oregon Health Authority reports daily the number of new diagnoses, the number of deaths, and details about the age, medical conditions and county of residence for those who have died. This is our state’s process, but it is different from each and every other state due to the lack of a federal method of tracking and reporting.

There is little reporting of the risks of mask wearing because there are none. There is absolutely evidence of the negative impacts of long-term isolation and the devastation of the economic impact we are facing world-wide. And we will not be able to start addressing these very serious issues until we can contain the transmission of this virus. Evidence clearly supports that wearing a mask, washing hands, social distancing, and limiting interactions with others is effective. The vaccine will also be an important tool, but it will only work if people will take the vaccine so we can start rebuilding our economy and caring for the serious mental health impacts.

As a nurse for 20 years, I’ve learned while caring for patients that if they do not want to listen to the scientific evidence regarding the efficacy of vaccinations, my job is not to convince them. My job is to educate to the best of my ability to help people make their own decisions regarding their health and wellness. As a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force, I am very well aware of the rights and freedoms I have fought to protect. I don’t believe asking for our fellow Americans to wear a mask to protect one another and taking a scientifically-sound vaccine is a violation of our rights and freedoms. I believe asking our fellow Americans to wear a mask and receive the vaccine is a very small ask compared to my service to our country. I also believe this is the only way we will overcome this pandemic and rebuild our nation – together."

Some fantastic information here, your cousin should be commended.

Thanks for your post. This pretty much sums up everything I’ve heard about it, from legitimate sources.

I am so glad that when I have to deal with people like this, they are generally arguing that the Earl of Oxford wrote the works of Shakespeare, which is an essentially harmless belief. Thank your cousin for fighting the good fight.

Great OP; thanks for posting that Johnny.

Thanks, Johnny! Your cousin has the patience of a saint. You should encourage her to be a moderator here.

I’m confused about the formatting of the conversations-- It looks like Dr. S is the one with the conspiracy theories, and John Doe is the one providing the real information. The first paragraph must clearly be written by Doe, because it’s addressed “To Dr. S”, but that would mean that the second paragraph is Dr. S’s reply? Or the first two paragraphs are both Doe, but then why the “John Doe” byline in between them?

I noticed that. I copied and pasted from her husband’s Facebook post. I presume he copied and pasted it from wherever she posted it. It’s possible that in adding his comments and changing ‘John Doe’s’ name that the format was corrupted. (Incidentally, there are no paragraph breaks or bullet points (numbers) in the FB post.)

The second paragraph is a second post by John Doe. I think the confusion comes from a transcription error; either putting the signature in the wrong place, or omitting a second signature. Perhaps a mod can edit it to make it more clear?

Is there any way a mod can step in and reformat the OP using quote tags, etc.? I found it very confusing.

I have added quote tags, and signatures to make this easier to read.

I will report this post and request that a mod to ask:
1. Replace the OP with the reformatted post;
2. Delete this post after replacing the OP.

I have made this change – PuzzleGal.

Thank you, @PuzzleGal.

And ruin her good reputation?!

What makes John Doe here different from most of the crap you see on Facebook, etc., is that he seems to see that there is something off with the CT rantings, and is actually asking a medical professional for COMPETENT advice and information. I hope that Mr. Doe believes the information given. I dream that he passed it on to his friends and associates and changed some of their minds, too.

I hope so. If he’s a friend of my cousins, he may be amenable to facts. But on the other hand, he may be sealioning.

This will have no effect on John Doe. He clearly does not suffer from a lack of information, even though he pretends to want more information, he’s “just asking questions” so that if she made some sort of error he could jump on it and continue his conspiracy nonsense. There is zero chance that John Doe was reassured or educated on this subject, even though her answers were excellent.

The best you can hope for is that third parties who are not conspiracy theorists and/or extremely stupid were reading this, too.

Really just superb. It’s explained thoroughly but in simple terms. I’d hope that if John Doe were prone to sealioning, your cousin would already be aware of that, but even if he was, he got absolutely nowhere.

Thanks for sharing.

Now I have to know what sealioning is. These kind of whatever-they-are references make understanding the flow quite difficult.

I’ll guess it is probably something simple. So then just say it.
What is sealioning, please.

A sea lion trolls threads by asking the most inane questions, and once you answer them will never debate your point - just ask more questions.

I think when confronted w/ such inane questions, your cousin and other health officials should just advise injecting oneself w/ bleach - or maybe jumping off a sufficiently tall building. Both will guarantee that the person will not die from COVID - or the cure.
