A day in the life of a locksmith - Mundane little slice of life article

But I happen to like these little workaday vignettes.

A DAY IN THE LIFE: Locked & loaded

Cool article, astro.

The article mentions locking children in a car. My son worked as a locksmith for some time and one day a Cal Highway Patrol skidded to a stop in front of the shop. It seems a nurse had locked her keys in the car along with a crack baby who was on a monitor and connected to a bag with a tube. When they got to the scene, lights siren and the whole works, the monitor was beeping and the nurse was in a panic. He opened the door just as a Deputy Sheriff was about to use a spring loaded center punch to take out the rear window.

He didn’t charge which sort of disgusted me. You can bet that if he had a medical emergency and the nurse was in the ambulance that came, she would have charged.

astro have you checked out the book Gig? It is a collection of interviews with people about their jobs. I got it for a friend of mine as a gift and he likes it. I’ve flipped through it a few times and it is interesting. If you like these kind of articles I think you’d like it.
