A different Name That Tune game

Here’s an idea for a game: from a short synopsis, determine the title of a song. Then put down your own song synopsis , and pass it along to the next player. To make it easier, ballads or story songs are preferred. Me first:

Two men are gambling, one accuses the other of cheating, goes home, gets a gun and blows him away.
That’s it. Care to give it a crack?

“Stagger Lee” by Lloyd Price (among others).

A high-living woman who used to move in posh circles finds she now has to survive on the street.

“Like A Rolling Stone” by Bob Dylan

A guy ducks into a bar to get out of the rain, and finds himself enchanted by a pickup jazz band playing there.

A crack or 2…
Street Angel? by Stevie Nicks?
Another Day In Paradise? Phil Collins?
Walking Down Madison? by Kirsty MacColl?

Atomic, Great thread.

Just to give credit where credit is due, Auntie Em, from the land of OZ, had a thread of songs by storyline back in April of this year. Some were really difficult, as you can see here.

Dang it, I did a search! I swear I did!

Oh, well, great minds and all that.

Another one: A disabled Vietnam Vet has to face the fact that he can no longer satisfy his wife’s physical needs.

A guy is lured onto the dance floor by the girlfriend of an outlaw and is forced to flee upon his arrival.

Brothers murder elderly man and attempt unsuccessfully to steal his buried treasure.

Man regrets decision to ask out gril from bad neighborhood after police break into her apartment and arrest him on a separate charge.

Plucky Monomorium defies odds

“Sultans of Swing” by Dire Straits?

“Gimme Three Steps” by Lynyrd Skynyrd?

“Ruby Don’t Take Your Love to Town” by the First Edition

Bzzzt.

Hint: Guy notices outlaw has arrived b/c music is no longer playing and the establishment is now vacant.

“Come a Little Bit Closer”, by Jay and the Americans. I swear, a local oldies station here must play this one at least twice an hour!

A man is unlucky at love, so he asks a local shaman to give him some magical help.

This one has at least two answers.

“Witch Doctor” by David Seville, featuring Alvin & the Chipmunks

Or the other answer, “Love Potion No. 9,” by the Searchers

A witch tells her that her man is cheating on her, as it turns out with the witch, so she shoots her man and the witch.

Hippie chick trying to find the guy she digs, doesn’t even want the money he owes her.

“Dark Lady” by Cher
How about…

A young woman cheats on her rich, old husband, and feels miserable about it.

“Lyin’ Eyes” by the Eagles

Man is in love with woman but is too affraid to call her on the phone. Is concerned that he’s doomed to a life of lonelieness, but imagines being with her.

“Come a Little Bit Closer” is correct.

“JENNY (867-5309)” - Tommy Tutone?

I’ll answer these in case anyone is losing sleep:

“Legend of Wooley Swamp” - Charlie Daniels

“Once Upon a Time in the Projects” - Ice Cube

“High Hopes” - words by Sammy Cahn, music by James van Heusen

“Me and Bobbie McGee”? (written by Kris Kristofferson).

This ones kind of easy, but it was all I could come up with right now:

Guy attempts to get girlfriend to defy her father’s wishes and drive with him to California.

also:

Guy dreams of a crowd of people hypnotized by the message on a neon sign.

“Sound of Silence”, performed by Simon & Garfunkle.
