A dirty shame

The new (finally) movie by John Waters.
Reveiws are NOT good.
Its about a bunch of perverts. Great.
How shocking.
COme now, John should be able to do better than that.
Doubt I’ll be seeing it as its NC-17 and I wouldn’t take my son, anyway.

Good for using Tracy Ullman, I’m sure she’s great in it.

Anyone seen it yet?

John Waters is usually hit-or-miss for me, and I have yet to ever see Tracy Ullman do anything remotely entertaining (and believe me, I’ve looked) so I’m probably going to give it a pass, too.

I’ve seen like 4 commercials for it and I don’t think even one of them MENTIONS it’s a John Waters movie. Maybe even HE’S embarassed by it?

Gotta say I won’t be rushing to see anything with Tracy Ullman either. Blech.

The commercials I’ve seen mention Waters pretty prominently. I perked up when I heard his name, but the film looks not so intriguing. I do suspect that Waters is trying to regain his grasp on gross-out trashiness, as some of his more recent movies were pretty tame - nearly mainstream. I’m thinking Hairspray, Serial Mom and Cry-Baby, in particular.

You’ve got to be kidding me.

Perhaps you just have to be a John Waters fan, or a Tracey Ullman fan.

I saw it Friday night and haven’t laughed so hard in years, possibly since I saw Serial Mom. In fact, I don’t think I laughed that hard at Serial Mom and I thought it was brilliant.

I think any critic who thought this movie was just sort of, meh, possibly doesn’t understand satire and certainly doesn’t have a sense of humor about sex.

Look, if you love John Waters movies, you’ll love this one too. Critics are idiots. Don’t listen to them. Go see this movie and have a great laugh. I’m considering going a second time, next time I have a bad day and need a good, tears-streaming-down-my-face laugh.

Ya neuters.

Do many people watch his movies any more? I figure he’s in the same catagory as Spike Lee and Woody Allen, someone who puts out films that not to many people watch.
As for the ads, yeah, that one’s I see mentions Waters, but the ads don’t really tell me what the movie is about.

A John Waters movie about a bunch of perverts…NO! Divine is dead: how perverted can it be. At least we can all be assured that it will not be another Pink Flamingos. Hopefully.

I am a Waters fan.
But I’d have to see it without my son; what does NC-17 mean anyway?

I must be weird, I like Ullman.

No one 17 and under admitted.

I saw it in Baltimore, at the Senate (where they had the big world premiere the night before). I usually like John Waters, but this one wasn’t quite my cup of tea. Great performances by Tracey Ullman (There are people who don’t like her? Get OUT!), Johnny Knoxville and Selma Blair (although this has me wondering: What kind of roles does she ever turn down? This is the most humiliating thing I’ve seen her in since The Sweetest Thing), not to mention my old pal Wes Johnson as “Fat Fuck Frank.”

The dialogue was off and the satire was hit-or-miss. I just feel like John Waters was asleep at the wheel this time. I loved Hairspray and Cry Baby. This is a return to Pink Flamingos territoty, but with a better cast.

Cameos by Ricki Lake and David Hasselhoff!

Why is this flick NC-17? I have a hard time imagining Tracey Ullman shed it all and did a full-frontal hard-core bonk or something of that nature.

John Waters (and, come to think of it, I) was surprised it didn’t get an R rating. I guess there was just too much nudity and sexual imagery. Nothing remotely arousing, mind you.
