I hereby knight messieurs Heinz and Barros in the Order of the Dutch Lion. You normally have to be Dutch to achieve that, but what the hell, they’ve earned it. 
'T wasn’t a great match, but the Dutch did what they had to do (win convincingly), and the Czechs fulfilled their sportly duty. Germany came close a few times (I’ll tell you, switching between games on live TV? Bad for the heart!), but in the end, all was well.
Sweden, beware. 
Germany had their chances and failed to take them. They are a shadow of their former selves right now. Like Italy last night they just didn’t deserve to progress.
If this was the Czech second team then heaven help us all. The Heinz free kick to equalise was a cracker- reminds me of Beckham when he was young and could do the same thing.
I couldn’t have picked a better time to be housebound, I’ve seen some terrific games in the last 10 days.
All right, call me a chauvinist cheese pig, but I really think we can take the Swedes. I honestly do. I mean, they’re good. Real good. But If Holland plays as well as they did against the Czech Republic, minus the mistakes, we CAN beat them.
Trouble is, we’ll then meat the Czechs in the semifinals again. :eek:
Well, unless the Danes beat them in the quarters, but honestly, that’s highly unlikely.
So, my prediction is that Holland ends in the semifinals by losing to the Czechs, again. And the final match? Czechs versus England. And the Czechs will win.
If that really does happen, then I think any footie fan must agree the best team of the championship won.

Our supporters in Portugal seemed to be doing all right. Sure, the usual chants of “Schade, Deutschland, alles ist vorbei” were heard, but that’s par for the course, really. It’s a back and forth game that’s generally not ill-spirited. Take for example the infamous and now hilarious German website Ihr-seit-nicht-lange-dabei.de (“You won’t be there for long”), aimed at mocking the Dutch. It’s the follow-up of Ihr-seit-nicht-dabei.de, a website coined in 2002 when we failed to qualify for the world cup. Personally, I don’t mind this sort of thing - there’ll always be rivalry between Holland and Germany. We just need to keep emphasising to the rest of the world that we’re feuding over the 1974 world cup final, not WWII.
I was very disappointed to learn that drunk football “fans” had been damaging cars with German plates in Venlo last night. That sort of stupidity is just uncalled for. But other than that, the Orange Army seems to be a harmless bunch of drunk dopes who are just looking for fun and good matches. I can think of worse football crowds.

That’s right! And you need to be punished for ever creating IKEA. I don’t know how many times I have had to take apart some dumb IKEA furniture halfway through because the diagrams were unclear, or how many times I was almost finished and one lousy part was missing!
