A Fairytale of New York -- Best Xmas song?

Aw, crap. “FTONY” is gonna sound even more poignant now. I think I’ll go listen to it.

i just put it on when I walked in the door- I’m crying her voice is sooooooo beautiful and full of lost and hurt love and the promise of what could have been and the idea that there could be a future full of love and happiness
I could have been someone
well so could have anyone
you took my dreams from me
when i first found you

i kept them with me babe
I put them with my own
can’t make it all alone
I’ve built my dreams around you
oh god i love this song

Happy Christmas, Kirsty (wherever you are)
too bad it’s our last.:frowning:

Thanks for the song.

Seems as though Kirsty has hijacked this thread…

They played ‘I don’t want to change the world’ this morning. I loved that when I was a kid.

Miss you Kirsty. XXX

There’s a place to mourn Kirsty here:
Kirsty MacColl has Died

Back OT, it’s not a “great” xmas song, but I can appreciate the sentiment behind Fear’s “Fuck Christmas”. I have a Rhino compilation CD called A Punk Rock Christmas that has such classics as Stiff Little Fingers’ White Christmas and The Dickies’ Silent Night.

I agree with the OP.

But I do have a soft spot for Slade’s MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY and Frankie goes to Hollywood’s The Power of Love.

RIP Kirsty :frowning:
