There’s a great spot which has opened up in my neighbourhood - Snakes and Lattes. It’s a cafe with a liquor license, they serve sandwiches as well as hot chocolate, espresso, lattes, etc. The big selling point is that they have a library of 1,500 + board games, and the wait staff and barristas know them all. For $5 per grown up, and $2.50 for kids, you can play as long as you like. My friend just got a job there as someone who drifts around and explains the rules.
We were there last night and the place was packed!
Well, I believe if you wanted to open one in the US, you’d call it Chutes and Lattes.
(Which reminds me, I’ve always meant to ask: do European versions of the game have actual snakes on the board picture? And…why would you want to slide down a snake?)
It does sound like a lot of fun! I’d take the wee one there for sure.
I’d never encountered ‘Chutes and Ladders’ before - up here in Canada, all the versions of the game I’ve ever seen have snakes right there on the board; often with fangs and everything.
My kids loved it - we played ‘Pirate vs. Pirate’ until it was time to go to a show called “The Mummers’ Masque”. A pretty fun evening all around.
