Could I possibly get someone who is currently in the USA to look at this link and tell me what the price is? It doesn’t show a currency for me and if it’s USD then it’s very expensive while if it’s in NZD it’s about right, so I’m wondering if it’s picking up my location (New Zealand) and giving me the price in my local currency.

Looks like a lovely instrument, with a price to match!

USD price is $1,949.00

I have a similar Takamine, same body shape and details, but with an oval soundhole. But clearly a lesser instrument, since I paid about $500 USD for it (used).

Cool thanks. That’s surprising as it is $2199 NZ over here, about $1370 US, it is rare that we get anything cheaper than other parts of the world (even cheese that we produce is cheaper in Australia than it is here!)

I agree it’s a nice guitar. I played its more expensive cousin in the store and was very happy with it. I’m just waiting for this one to come in then I will decide between them.

Just as a data point, the price showing for me (AUS) is also $1,949.00

I just checked it from all three locations on three different browsers. The price never changed from $1949 for me. @Richard_Pearse , are you saying that particular link shows $2199 for you? Or the same exact guitar is NZ$2199 somewhere else, and you’re price comparing to this one?

It is $2199 NZ here in a local New Zealand store. I was just checking the Sweetwater store out of interest to see how much of a “remote island nation premium” I was paying. The Sweetwater price is showing $1949, the same as for you guys, which made me think it was doing a currency conversion to NZD. It seems the NZ price is a good one.

Normally a product in NZD would be USD x currency conversion, + 15% tax, plus another 50% just because we’re a small market with little competition.

For example, an Eric Johnson Signature Stratocaster is $4999 NZ but only $2399 US, that’s the type of price difference I was expecting.

Price showing for me (in Canada) is also $1949.

Thanks everyone, looks like it’s definitely showing the USD price.

Same for me, both with the original URL and using a URL with all the marketing stuff removed (the question mark ‘?’ and everything after it). I thought that the marketing stuff might somehow specify USD and removing it might give other choices. But the financing options all mention ‘must have a US billing address’ so I guess it’s just USD by default.
