Ahhh. Nothing but blue skies, cloudless and beaming. The air is warm and there is a modest breeze. It’s about 83 degrees.
Just feeling that this must be announced to the world, as Seattle summers have been pretty crappy recently. I appreciate this weather, Master Nature, and I look forward to any repetition you’d like to make in this manner.
Here at my workplace (a major healthcare facility), the power has gone off 4 times already today. We’re told that Seattle City Light is “browning” us out because of the high power usage today.
Let’s see: record-breaking heat, major closures on I90, I5, I405 all planned for the weekend. Power’s failing already. Yep, it’s gonna be a doozy!
I’m in the metro area too. At a major healthcare facility. I just can’t say which one - I don’t want to scare the patients.
I love Seattle too, it’s the best place to live I can think of. But it is also a very wacky place. Witness the gambling football coach, the naked bicyclers, and the perennial Green Lake itch, just to cover a broad spectrum. Not to mention the traffic, especially on a sunny Friday.
I’ve been here for 13 years, and I can tell that my blood has thickened. 83 degrees just seems incredibly hot to me - now it’s 84!
Dangit you guys, you’re breaking the regional code - yer supposed to tell people it RAINS all the time so they won’t move here! Sure is nice though - think I’ll have to leave work a little early today & get out to enjoy it.
BTW, Peach, I think criminalcatalog meant that literally - took his/her children to the public swimming pool (at least I hope so).
I spent my day on the south end of Lake Washington only about 20 feet from the shore. Boats all over the place and children screaming as they splash in the cool water. And I was stuck inside of a stuffy 737 at the Boeing plant working with the FAA while they audit the Renton plant. If there is any consolation, I will spend tomorrow at Lake Tapps helping my sister and her SO break in their new ski boat.
It was really hot yesterday, and it’s now 93 degrees today. I gotta say I’m lovin’ the weather. I just got done swimming in Lake Washington (which is damn cold!) and am about to head out to play some basketball. If this weather continues we may have another droubt like we had a couple of summers ago. And people think it rains all the time here.
