It's hot.

The patio thermometer says 98°F. No idea how that relates to reality, but I heard Seattle was looking at 90°F today. I’m guessing it’s at least 85°F.

Just mowed the front lawn. Took forever, because in the two or three weeks since I last mowed it, it has exploded. I have the Herald parked in the driveway, so I’ve put the Jeep by the fence. I decided to chop through the jungle there. Managed to run over the cover to the water meter with the lawnmower. Oops. Kicked up a rock and put a little hole in my bare leg. I’m dirty and dripping with sweat.

I think I’ll take a shower and have a little ride in the Herald. Maybe I should see about getting a gardner, so I can have fun next time instead of doing yard work.

Today I had the best place in the world to work. The hangar doors at both end of the 737 manufacturing building were wide open. We are located only 100 feet or so from the south shore of Lake Washington. To the north was the lake with Mercer Island and the city of Seattle. The snowcapped Olympics provided a perfect back drop to the view. To the south Mount Rainier rose like a giant ice cream cone above the trees. Two brand new airplanes took the the skies for the very first time. I would best the flight test pilots dream of days like this. And the best part, my supervisor told the crew we could go when we were done with our work. He didn’t have to tell me twice.

See, it’s the 8 days a year like that which really call me back home. I grew up about a mile or two from that 737 plant–Highlands. The humidity’s a killer on those days, but if you get to the lake or jump a ferry (or a fairy if you’re into that I guess) or float the Cedar you are in H.E.A.V.E.N.

That just sounds like a really nice day at work. Glad you got to leave early. Have a great weekend, too.

Wah, wah, wah. Wanna trade? It’s 4 whole degrees C here today!

I thought about it, but I’m havint *nun ov it! :stuck_out_tongue:

Days like these, I long for Canada. I was dizzy and sick on our drive to get groceries. I’m a snow-woman! I melt!

I can’t seem to take off enough clothes.

Now, you see… Single guy here. Lost my fiancée in January. ANd you’re talking about taking off your clothes! Maybe I should take another shower. A cold one. :stuck_out_tongue:

Driving the Herald was nice. Still warm, but there was a breeze. I saw in the rear-view mirror that my SoCal tan is returning.

Hate to break it to you, but the magical force field at the border that normally allows us to preserve our igloos well into July seems to have broken down.

It got up to 29C in Victoria today, and it’s still ridiculously hot in my apartment. On the plus side, there’s a nice little place that sells gelato just down the street from where I work, so I had a very pleasant afternoon break.

I should have been more specific. I miss *New Brunswick * on days like these. It was about 50F there today, according to my mom. NB will be warmer in June… and unbearably hot in July; however, living here in July, compared to there - it’s just death. Just plain, simple death. Asphyxiation.

Right now I have about three fans blowing on me. And it’s *still * too damn hot.

I just couldn’t resist. It’s too hot to sleep, so I’ve got to have some form of entertainment. If it’s like this in May already though, I really hope it isn’t a sign of things to come for the summer, 'cause I don’t do heat all that well either.

Yeah, it’s been hot the last few days. The last I heard this weekend is suppose to be like last weekend - mostly nice but with a few showers. Ugh, that means it will be muggy…

Ah, I’m not the only one who can’t sleep! Granted, I’m an insomniac, but if I can blame something else, I will.

Cripes, but it’s been an awful day. Hubby and I have been cranky and irritable, and though we rarely fight and are both pretty reasonable people when we do, we’ve been vaguely snarling at each other all day. And it’s too hot to take it out on each other with wild monkey sex. (Did **I ** just say that?)

However, at the end of the day, hubby went to bed under one thin bedsheet and the windows wide open, and I think I got a touch of heatstroke at some point today, because I found myself getting sick several times shortly after he went to bed. Mr. Stasaeon finally came out to the living room while I sat here reading the Dope and just held me for a while and apologised for being such a brute all day, and I apologised for being such a shrew. A whole summer of this? Gag.

The highlight of my day was time spent at Safeway. Air conditioning. Frozen food section. Ahhhhhhhhhh.

I haven’t had to break out my fans yet, though I do have them ready just in case. The windows in my apartment face north and south and are heavily shaded, so it stays a bit cool. That may change in the summer though. Ugh, when I moved here I was told how mild the summers were - I was totally lied to. The summer of 2003 was one of the most miserable summers I’ve ever experienced.

I’m going to Folklife tomorrow, so I really don’t want it to be too hot…

Had windows open all day. Mmm. Perfect summer weather.

In London on Friday it was the hottest day in May since 1953 - 31 degrees Celsius (88F, I believe). Bloody uncomfortable, too. Thankfully it’s a bit cooler today at about 21.

It’s gorgeous outside!

is going to go out and bask for a while

Ahh, it’s snowing here today!

Perpetuating the stereotype, eh?

I’m really serious. It’s frickin’ snowing! And they say it’s supposed to be like this all week…
