A football game for PC with alternative simple gameplay?

(Or any other platform, but I prefer PC)

I remember the old Mattel handheld devices, and there was one of them resembling a football game. It was nice, extremely simple, and very funny.

Today’s NFL simulation software are a bit complicated for me. I get confused with all plays, moves and strategies. I’m not saying that’s wrong, it just I can’t get it.

May you tell me about one of them (I don’t recall which I tried), that has an alternative gameplay so simple (but good graphics, of course) that allows me receive the ball, and run to goal, just evadings adversaries tackles and, only for fun and not worrying about complex maneuvers or strategies?

(if there is some game with lesser graphic quality, it would be also appreciated, thanks).

The old Joe Montana game had exactly what you’re after. I think Madden NFL does too but you may need to go back a couple years to find one not very complicated.

Tom Landry Strategy Football

If you remember that game, you rock.

The Madden games from EA do have an “easy play” mode, which greatly reduces the amount of buttons used and the computer makes a lot more of the gameplay decisions for you.
