Is there a reliable source that shows who did what on a particular Zappa song. I can find the lineup for the album but not the individual songs. In particular I want to know who played on “Doreen”. I know that Steve Vai played guitar on that album but I was trying to figure out if the lead guitar work at the end is Zappa or Vai. It’s a bit more straight forward than Zappa’s usual lead but it doesn’t quite sound like Vai either.
I’ve seen Zappa label Vai’s work as “stunt guitar” before. I’m still wondering who is playing the prolonged guitar solo at the end of if they are trading. I’m leaning towards Vai but I’m not sure. It’s some of my favorite guitar work on any Zappa song.
