A G Mail Quirk.

I am being tortured by what appears to be a glitch with Gmail. Let me set this up.

  1. I use Gmail for personal emails.
  2. I get emails on my computer and on my Treo.
  3. I can, of course, also check emails on the Internet through the Google/Gmail log-in.
  4. I use Entourage on my Mac for all email accounts.

Email settings for Entourage are clear. Do not delete any read emails from any servers. So, anything that is Gmail that is downloaded to Entourage is left intact on servers.

I set up the Treo to use VersaMail. It seems to work okay- but the Gmail Settings page is constantly being re-set by itself. Every time it is apparent that I’ve not gotten Gmail on my Treo, I go to the Gmail page on the Internet.
Log in. Go to Settings. Go to Forwarding and POP/IMAP. I keep clicking on the option under the heading “POP Download” that says, " Enable POP for all email ( even mail that’s already been downloaded) "

I hit Save Changes at the bottom. The changes are supposedly saved. For a few moments. Then the option reverts to one of several things.

  1. " 1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since Jul 5 "

  2. " 1. Status: POP is enabled for all mail that has arrived since 5:31pm today"

Both are not acceptable options- since they are not options I chose !!

Anyone know why Gmail Settings are reverting to Settings not of my choosing? Is there some work-around ??
