Thanks for the suggestion, Bruce_Daddy, but we do want a true two-player game.
LOTR:KOTK (how’s that for acronym hell?) is a beat-em-up with a nice two player mode. Available for PC or PS2.
PS2 most team sports games support two player co-op, but may not be your cup of tea.
Dynasty Warriors 4 is another good beat-em-up. A bit shallow, but great for mindless fighting.
Another one is Air Hockey (the real life version). See how hard you can hit it!
Try some of the later Gauntlet games for the PS/2. We played the third one (Dark Chronicle? Something like that) for HOURS.
No steering wheel required, but a working knowledge of The Simpson’s is helpful.
Heh. I was going to say rummy or cribbage (or both) but I guess that’s too low-tech. . .
I’m a little old fashion…how about monoply?
And change the rules a bit. Example:
rent for house: one hug
rent for hotel: one kiss
Just a thought…Whatever you guys do, I hope you have a blast
Monopoly isn’t really fun for two people. Usually the first one to get a monopoly slowly drains the other, in my experience.
When my sister was visiting we played Settlers of Catan (Cities & Knights extension) all day (over and over, that is). I only beat her once. She’s brutal.
I second the Gauntlet games for the PS2. They’re pretty much designed for multi-player RPG slayin’. There’s not too much thinking involved–much simpler than Baldur’s Gate–but enough to keep it interesting. And they’re just good old fashioned fun! Especially the deep voiced announcer dude. Me and my friends played for hours and hours.
In my humble opinion, I would definately say NO TV and DEFINATELY NO computer… If you really want to play a game, why not opt for the really old-fashioned Twister (with lots of beer/wine/champagne/Scotch… whatever!)…Hehe the mind boggles with the contortions that could happen!
Failing that, what my partner and I do, when we manage our “child-free weekend” is a few beers, lots of good music and a few challenging games of darts. (YES! Darts!)… You’re on the move, talking, listening to your choice of music, and having fun.
(Of course, if the weather is warm, “Strip Darts” can be an interesting diversion… whoever loses the previous game has to remove an article of clothing… In winter those evenings go on forever, but in summer… !!!:o
Yea, there’s just something about hearing “RED WARRIOR NEEDS FOOD BADLY” that makes for a perfect day.
Mindless hack-n-slash, with enough variety to make it interesting.

I was speaking to my brother on the phone right before reading this thread. He’s a bit of a cricket fan and spends most weekends playing or coaching (he’s only 16)
We were discussing going to the New Year’s test in Sydney. The converstaion was about whether we should buy tickets for the first or second day. Of course this are still the beginning of the test match, which can last up to five days. This will also be the last test for Steve Waugh

mrs jjimm and I occasionally play chess. That takes a while if you’re playing properly. She beats me 9 times out of ten, too. Or about a dozen games of backgammon.
Doebi, last night I headed off to Games by James and bought Bitin’ Off Hedz, Devil Bunny Needs A Ham and Devil Bunny Hates the World. In addition, the staff suggested “Loser.” I guess you answer questions about bad luck or bad decisions and if you admit to them, you don’t have to move? Whoever gets to the end first is the loser. The people with the worst luck and worst decision-making skills win! w00t! My kind of game.
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I’ll let you know how it goes!
Gazelle, you play EQ on the 7th Hammer server? Dangit, I wish I had known that a year ago when I quit cold turkey, gave away all of my equipment, and let my level 50 necro vanish into oblivion.
I’d toss another vote in for Cheapass games. Elenfair and I have pretty much every one that’s been released, and Deadwood is probably my favorite at this point. (Best played with more than two people, though.)
lno, you and Elenfair definitely need to become better acquainted with me and El Hubbo. Too many things in common, my friend.
We played all four new games yesterday. Bitin’ Off Hedz was okay with two, but I bet it’s a blast with many people. I look forward to sharing that one with friends.
Devil Bunny Needs a Ham was a blast and so was Devil Bunny Hates the Earth. Perfect two-player games.
Loser (not a Cheapass Game) was another one that isn’t too fun with only two people.
Thanks again for the suggestions, guys.
