A game for two that lasts all day long. No, not *that.* Sheesh!

El Hubbo and I are alone on Thanksgiving. So far, we’ve decided not to cook, but to go out to dinner somewhere and spend a fun day together, holed up in the house.

I’d like to play a game that takes all day long, gets us talking to each other, laughing and having fun… Anyone know something like that? The only game I can think of that matches that description is Dungeons and Dragons, but that doesn’t really work for two people. El Hubbo had the idea to rent a couple of two-player PS2 games from Blockbuster. We’ve played all the way through Baldur’s Gate for the PS2 and had a blast.

So I’m looking for suggestions of two-player games in board, PC or PS2 format. Any ideas?

Parallel Universe for gamecube… aw crap, it’s not ps2. umm… Disgaea: hour of darkness is fun if you both work together, although it’s not quite a 2 player game.

Thanks chaoticdonkey… Will keep an eye out for that one.

I will be sending a link to this thread to GarGirlfriend:

“See Honey! Other women don’t think that playing computer games with your other half all day is a bad idea…”

Yeah garius, I hear you. We have one other female friend who also likes to game. We’ve had a great time grouping up on EverQuest and Star Wars Galaxies.

Both of us got really tired of SWG.

I re-opened my EQ account this week and added the most recent upgrade; now I’m trying to talk El Hubbo into re-opening his account so we can game together once again.

You Don’t Know Jack - the game, available in various different forms, the original YDKJ, YDKJ movies, YDKJ TV …I’ve played those three with the boyfriend and we always have fun. Of course, I win most of the time, maybe that’s why it was so much fun.

The games are short but you can play over and over. Doesn’t get boring because there are always new questions.

We have the original PC version of YDKJ. Fun, I agree! Good suggestion… Still hoping for one I’ve never heard of.

Thanks, velvet!

Guess what I’m mad about today! was a favorite of my ex wife’s

Unfortunately that particular game could easily go on for many many days if you aren’t clever enough to know the cheat: “You were right I was wrong to have ever doubted you”…repeat 127 times.

Nowadays, my gf and I play Uno with the kids, Scrabble, and Trivial Pursuit. Honestly, between my two kids and her daughter, if we get a day with no children, we take advatnage of it…nudge nudge wink wink!

Our respective ex’es have the kids for Thanksgiving and we have not planned any activities yet besides dinner at my aunts.

I’ve blown many, many hours playing Lost Cities with my SO. Each hand is only about 10 minutes, but it’s easy to just keep playing and playing and playing…

Have you heard of cricket? That goes on FOREVER

Not when us English are playing

Hmm if you haven’t played either already, Frequency or its sequel Amplitude is GUARANTEED to get you and your SO into an all day gamefest relatively painlessly. I’ve reccomended the games to friends and I havent found one person that isn’t hooked on it to some degree.

Basically they’re music games that you have to tap along to the beat using your controller, its a simple concept but its loads of fun, especially with two-players. You can even cooperate on making remixes together.

The Simpson’s Road Rage is good for PS2, some of the comments the drivers make are hilarious. Have fun. I’m jealous. I have to wake up early, go to my rents house, eat, then go home and prepare a meal for my in-laws. Not a single nap the whole damn day.

You know, instead of games, you could alternate massages and adding spa treatment stuff while ending with a nice hot shower. Without a game or TV on, you’ll be surprised how much talking & communicating you can do. It takes some shopping at Bodyshop beforehand, but it has its benefits. Besides, if you find you’re ‘in the mood’, you won’t get put off until you beat the next ‘level’.

Gazelle
Another Minnesnowta EQ couple?
We have a group of about 9 of us up here that play.
Grouping with real life friends is a great way to spend a slow afternoon.

As to non-computer ways to spend time, do you like jigsaw puzzles? The really big, annoyingly complex ones? Nothing like starting a conversation, “Hun, I need a piece with a blue eyeball on it, 2 innies and an outie.”

Or, have you hear of the company Cheapass Games
They have some wonderfully off the wall games. The cheapass part comes from the fact that you have to have your own dice, money, and pawns. But this is made up for by the facts that most of them are in the $10 range, and come in an envelope, instead of those huge boxes. Lots of gaming stores carry the line. Personal favorites, Bitin’ Off Hedz, Devil Bunny Needs A Ham, The Great Brain Robbery, and Kill Doctor Lucky.

Phoenix Games on Lake Street usually carries some of the line, and some of the Games by James chain does too.

Civilization III: Play the World. One day? Feh. You won’t even notice. In fact, you’d better set an alarm, or else you’ll look up to find a week has passed.

Hey *Doebi, I like your cheapass suggestion a lot! So those four Cheapasses are your faves, huh? Hmmm… I think I have an errand to run after work today. I think I saw the Devil Bunny and Great Brain ones the other day.

Which EQ server are you on? All of our characters are on the 7th Hammer, but shoot, if he’s not going to play… Maybe I’ll stroll over your way!

NurseCarmen, do you have to have a steering wheel to play Simpsons Road Rage?

Frikkin’ frackin’ coding.

If you like GTA:VC or The Getaway, True Crime is good, but not two player. Unless two player means switching the controller back and forth everytime you die.

Ah never mind you won the rugby
