There are no smoking good looking women who can act?
He did have the lord’s daughter - it was Cat’s sister whose name escapes me at the moment. He didn’t want the lord’s daughter, he wanted Cat specifically.

Ahhh, yesssssss. Oh my goodness, I can’t wait!
Can you name one?
Well yeah, it’s not the entire thing. If it was just looks he’d have forgotten about her the instant he went to King’s Landing. (Lyssa Arryn btw)
Also, you can see a flash of the fight at the Hand’s tourney at 45 seconds of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7JYw5kQg_Y&feature=channel.
I think Sean Bean’s reading of the signature line - Winter Is Coming - is spot-on perfect. Then again, so is Sean Bean.
That’s…not at all what I pictured the helm looking like. Ugh.
Honestly, I’d suggest you pick up the book, as I’ve never heard anyone describe it as anywhere near as cool as it is.
Picture a very in-depth fantasy world, but much more political intrigue than actual fantasy in the story (there are some minor elements of fantasy, though). Lots of shades of gray in characters–this isn’t at all a fight between good and evil. One of the writers said “It’s more The Lion in Winter than it is Lord of the Rings,” and I think that’s a decent description of what you’re going to get.
I can’t figure out:
16-17: Doesn’t appear to be dark-haired. Looks like Jaime Lannister to me. It’s the same guy who is pictured at 15 seconds, I think, and that’s clearly Jaime, as is the voiceover. It’s just the lighting that makes his hair look a bit darker in 16-17.
25: Looks like Jon Snow. Note the white direwolf.
32: Littlefinger is talking, but I’m not 100% sure that’s him pictured. Here’s a shot of him delivering that line: Littlefinger
Just noticed I missed your first question. “Winter is coming” is delivered by Ned. I’m not sure who is saying the 2nd part–it sounds like a different voice.
Looks good. I’ll probably wait for the DVD, though; not worth it to get HBO just for this IMHO.
And please, George, please finish the series already, would ya already?
Ned says winter is coming.
Nobody says they know in their bones it will be long. Catelyn says she known in her bones they did it. I’m assuming this refers to the Lannisters and Bran’s fall or assassination attempt.
It’s Jaime at 16-17. He’s blond and the armor is gold, although the lighting isn’t the greatest.
25- That’s Jon. Notice the white wold? That’s ghost. Viserys has platinum blond hair.
32- Yes, Littlefinger. Pointed beard and the quote.
If only to see a friend from work in the background, yes
This thread needs a bit of resurrection, methinks.
I’ve noticed the sheer amount of drooling and second-by-second analysis slathered upon the short teaser trailer, so I can’t but imagine what this eleven minute analysis of the show as a whole will do for you. (Though if you lot are anything like me, you will have to keep picking your jaw of the floor at the sheep amount of awesome, PLUS interviews with the man himself!)
I picked up this series to read back in September not knowing the series was coming until I was juuust getting engrossed in the first book. I. Cannot. Wait.
As one hellish winter concludes, another comes…
Do we know what changes they are making for the tv version.
Are they dropping the whole ‘others’ plot? Which frankly i wouldn’t miss, I always found that far less interesting than the whole dynastic struggle between the factions.
That would be like LOTR dropping Sauron.
But the Others plot is pretty damn central - it’s the whole Ice thing no?
Trailer looks great to me shame it’ll be a while before we see it in NZ though…
I’m hoping HBO will see this through. They have a nasty history of canceling or compressing great series.
Not to get too personal or anything, but that post strikes me as rather odd. Your wife gets to sign up for HBO whenever she wants to, but you have to have her permission to do it when you want to?
Anyway, I had never heard of this before seeing a advert for it on HBO. I watched the preview the did a few months ago, and it looked… OK. I almost always give HBO series a chance, so I’ll do that for this one, too.
I don’t see that. You could just make a show about the war of the 5 kingdoms with the exiled Targaryens across the sea plotting their return and it would work fine.
