A Get Fuzzy question

How many animals does that guy have?!? So far, I count 1 dog, 2 cats and a ferret. I bet there’s an alligator in his bathtub as well.

Rob only owns Satchel (the dog) and Bucky (the obnoxious cat). Fungo the ferret and Chuuby Huggs, the other cat, belong to others in the same apartment building. (I believe Fungo is a next-door neighbor.)

I’m not the only one who likes Chubby Huggs, am I?

I like Chubby, but he’s a bit of a one-note character - and Conley is smart enough to know that and to use him very sparingly.

I was very happy when he brought back Chubby yesterday. I’m so sick of this six month old Fungo storyline that I could barf.

“Only a person who really needs a hug would say that!”

But yeah, I agree that Chubby is a one-note character. He needs to bring back Smacky more.

Get Fuzzy has to be the best daily strip out there… Ever since the Haloween gag about the “House of PUN…ching you in the head”, I’ve been totally hooked.

No you’re not! I tend to call all our big sweet kitty patients “Chubby Huggs”.

This wasn’t even the best Halloween gag (although it is a great one). I am partial to the strips where Satchel dresses up as a vacuum cleaner, because it was the scariest thing he could think of, and when Bucky doesn’t pick a costume in time, so he has to dress up as a Teletubby. (There is something about Bucky dressed up as a Teletubby that is just mesmerizing.)

And the best “Get Fuzzy” strip ever? Involves a “Bucky dent” and the punchline: “My own cat is a Yankee sympathizer!” I heart Rob Wilco. Some days I wish I weren’t married. Or, you know, three dimensional.

Conley has also gotten off some hilarious digs at the French…“I’ll make you cry like a French soccer player”…“Aww. That’s your surrendering hand, too.”

Satchel is my favorite cartoon dog.

Our local paper finally started carrying this strip within the past six months or so, and it’s one of the two that I read every day. The other is called Tundra and is done by a local cartoonist with a Gary Larson sense of humor. Most of his strips are northland humor, but not all.

I love Get Fuzzy. Reading it is on my Daily Top Priority list for things to do at work.
Satchel is so sweet and I love Bucky’s passion for monkey meat.

Satchel is the only comic strip character I’ve ever felt sorry for. First panel he’s drinking a soda and looks down at the cap. Second panel is the inside of the cap which reads “YOU ARE NOT A WINNER”. Last panel is Satchel looking wounded to his soul. My heart just broke. Poor Satchel.

Remember when Rob went on the business trip to Chicago? There was one panel of him walking past the Hancock Building, wearing a short-sleeved dress shirt and necktie, licking an ice cream cone.

Made my heart just seize up.

Spoken like someone who’s never heard of Monty.

Or Frazz.

Or, just someone with an opinion… (However, I will check out both of the aforementioned comic strips.)

Mr. Conley has restored my faith in the funny papers. I quit reading them after Calvin and Hobbes went “exploring.”

My favorite so far has to be when Satchel started kicking Rob because he was thinking about voting for Nader. “WORK THE BODY, SATCHEL!”

Friggin’ comic gold.

Our favorite sequence so far is when Rob let Satchel take Bucky to the zoo to see the monkey. Bucky got loose from his Little Bundle O’Joy and ran toward the cage, muttering “Monkey Monkey Monkey…”

For some reason that never fails to have us keeling over with laughter.

A friend has been known to call me, mutter “Monkey Monkey Monkey…,” listen to me howl with laughter, and hang up.

I don’t remember the strip and I don’t understand what would engender the reaction. Care to explain?

Get Fuzzy, although enjoyable overall, is hella hit and miss.

I’ve been a Monty fan ever since Robotman days. That comic strip is consistantly brilliant.

My new fave is Pearls Before Swine. Perverse and funny as hell.
