A Get Fuzzy question

I’m a big Get Fuzzy fan and a big Frazz fan.

I can share a little trivia on Get Fuzzy

Satchel is named after Satchel Paige , one of the most famous negro league baseball stars and national league stars ever.

Bucky is named after Buck O’Neil , the famous Kansas City Monarch Negro League baseball star. Buck is alive an well in his 90’s and is considered a local treasure in the Kansas Ciy area. He is very involved with the KC Royals baseball team. I’ve met him twice and found his generous and open spirit to be a polar opposite of the Bucky in the comic strip.
He and satchel were the best of friends and he shared a few very funny stories of their escapades.

O’Neil’s take on Get Fuzzy is “I don’t read the comics and I heard that the cat is nothing like me.” Apparently he wasn’t angry that his name was chosen but he wasn’t honored either.

I have to go with Rat threatening his neighbor about crabapples with an ICBM.

“I’ve got the bomb, Bob.”

I’ve read some Frazz and it’s funny. But it’s drawn too much like Calvin and the little kid is too much like Calvin and the humor is too much like Calvin.

It’s an unapologetic ripoff and i don’t get why.

Today’s “Pearls Before Swine” happens to be one of the funniest ones I’ve read.

You mind explaining it? Denver? Omlets?

It’s an omelet with ham, peppers, onions and cheese, sometimes called a Western omelet. Pig is so stupid he thinks Denver is a company that makes the omelets.

I’ve got a dimwitted dog and cat who likes to bite, so I can relate. A couple of my favorites…

I’ve got a dog who is the canine equivelant of Bucky, and another dog who just needs a broken watch to wear around to be Satch.

Come to think about it, Chubby Huggs has been reminding me a bit of our little female dog this week.

Good lord. You may now start calling me Rob! I guess it’s better than having a canine “Bill the Cat” around.

You got that one? I was linking to the “Would you care for a cup of coffee?” strip.

They update every day. For the coffee strip, click “Previous day.”

Both are pretty good.

My paper just starting carrying “Pearls Before Swine” and I’ve been trying to figure out if I like it or not. Yesterday’s “Would you care for a cup of coffee?” one finally won me over.

You poor lost soul.
You missed not only Rat threatening the neightbor with an ICBM, but Pig trying to find his stolen Nativity scene. He knocks on doors and asks “Have you found Jesus?”
You missed Rat dying and telling St. Peter he was Mother Theresa.
Peter: What did you do on Earth?
Rat: Those poor leopards.

That was better than the Denver Omlette one, but nowhere NEAR as good as Zebra and the Crocodiles.

‘Phone bill high dis monf.’

Heh! He also missed Rat escaping the strip and running amok through the funny pages. He seduced the mother from Luann!!

Oh yeah, “That hot young stud rocks my world!”

My favorite thing about get Fuzzy is Bucky’s passion for monkey meat. The thought of a cat that wants to eat a monkey just kills me.

My favorite thing about “Get Fuzzy” is the subtle baseball references. “Satchel”, “Bucky” and especially, “Fungo”. If I were going to vote for a piece of sporting equipment that most resembles a ferret, “fungo bat” would be my first choice:)

Everyone’s tastes are different. Personally, I found the zebra/crocodile storyline to be one of the strip’s weakest.
