For this particular publisher, that is absolutely not true. I’d love to read what people have to offer, even if they’re just workshopping it on a message board.
Thanks. Interesting format, that one. Not a traditional forum. Maybe that keeps the sniping and grudges to a minimum?
I submitted a short segment of my work-in-progress. So far 14 views and two spam solicitations to be very special friends ![]()
I still haven’t found a good message board, but I did find a beta reader with a lot of very pertinent and helpful thinky-thoughts. I’ve also released a second title–a novella this time. I’ve got it on a free promotion on Amazon for a few days here. Starting tomorrow, the novel will be free for a few days also. Gimme a PM if you want the info on them. I made a pretty radical improvement between the two works.
I’m also pretty sure that I managed to squeak out the novella without any typos… none that my professional editor of a beta reader caught, anyway…
Feel free to friend me there. I think to get a lot of feedback you have to spend time in the groups and forums, or else invite people you already know (there’s a Facebook connect function too)…
I go to the forums on NaNoWriMo.org when I’ve participated. Speaking of which, Camp NaNoWriMo starts in a couple days, I’m thinking of doing it.
Ooh, NaNoWriMo is a good idea. Especially in November…
I’d kind of shied away from it because stonking out 50K words during one of the busiest months of the year never seemed like a good idea. Then again, that’s what first drafts are for… and you’re right, I bet the forums are hoppin’ year round.
NaNo is great for just plumping out reams of first-drafty stuff for me, which is good.
I’ve never been able to participate in Camp NaNo, because I’m ears-deep in summer reading at the library, and working on costume for upcoming conventions.
Maybe someday.

Fan fiction.net? would that be ok?
