Good morning everyone. I’m up and want to caffienate, but I need to hop in the shower. Unfortunately, my daughter is in the shower hogging up all the hot water. What is it with my kids and their long showers?
Keep your fingers crossed everyone. Today is my daughter’s second attempt at her driving test for her license. I really hope she passes.
I’m glad you’re feeling better, ems.
Ah! The shower just stopped. I’ll give it fifteen minutes in hopes of the hot water tank regenerating a little hot water, and then I’ll hop in my shower.
Okay, after a day of running around like a madwoman yesterday I think I’ve finally gotten everything settled. Now all I need are some tapestries for my room and an internet connection and Spaz is set. My computer came back fine–the memory had gone bad, so I got it upgraded. I spent way too much money yesterday, so I didn’t go out like I wanted to. I accidentally deleted my music files from my external hard drive. :smack::smack::smack::smack::smack: Fortunately I had most of them backed up on my computer, but it’s an old copy and I’ve lost all the music I’ve gotten since the end of last year it looks like. :smack::smack::smack::smack:
Academic coaching started yesterday. I’m working with a middle-schooler on math. It’s not too bad–math is easier in some ways to tutor. I didn’t get much of a chance to talk with the girl due to scheduling conflicts with the after-school program, hopefully that can be resolved next week.
I’m starting to get lonely here. I think now that the stress of finding a place to live is gone and I haven’t heard from Irish Brother & Co. in a couple of weeks I’m starting to feel isolated. That’s one reason I wanted to go out last night. I have a whine worked up about this, but I don’t have enough time to go into it. Maybe when I get my computer inter-connected again.
Tonight I’m training someone at work again. And probably next week as well judging by the schedule. We’ll see how it goes. It’s turned into a middle-aged womanfest at the front desk. I’m the youngest person there now. Nothing against middle-aged women, I’ll be one myself someday, but there are certain traits among the breed that grate my nerves. Probably because I still think and act like I’m in my mid-20s rather than four months from 30.
The downside is that I had to sit through an entire document review session this morning without it, which was really painful… but the upside is that I was able to talk my way into coming back downtown for the rest of the day, since I don’t have a regular workstation up in the hinterlands of suburbia. Huzzah.
IT is dispatching someone to poke it with a stick a few times and confirm that it’s really and truly dead.
Nava, I hope you’re happy… I’m now craving Cherry Coke, which is a problem, because it’s pretty much impossible to find in Canada these days. grumble I miss Cherry Coke.
The way I simulated it in countries where it didn’t exist was by adding a twist of grenadine to my regular Coke, maybe you two could try that?
ETA: throws a pillow at Neener, just because.
Shush. I’m not ready for talk of fall… we didn’t even have summer yet, dammit!
ETA: Nava, I’ve made do using regular Coke and a bit of cherry syrup when I’m really desperate (I use the same kind of syrup they use to make Italian sodas at the coffeeshop). It’s close, but it’s just not the same.
Howdy Y’all! I’s home. I’ve been told I’m bein’ taken to dindin to get bbq. We’re goin’ to Sonny’s MOOOOOOM. I can do with some bbq, so it’s all good.
I was gonna suggest grenadine in coke or cherry syrup. Also, throw in a couple marischino cherries for fun. Personally I think the bottled cherry coke it teh ick.
Believe it or not, I am home from work and drinkin’ iced tea instead of a beerverage. I had me an iced tea cravin’.
Fall here means only havin’ to mow every other week.
Sonny’s?!?!? Man, there isn’t a pout big enough for me right now. <sigh> It’s been a year and a half since I had any Sonny’s. You lucky bear…
Taters, I don’t understand the showering marathons, either, and I’ve got both a daughter and a son-in-law who do it. I’m sure that’s part of the reason that my electric bill is so bloody high.
Yeah, I’m home. I’m pooped. I did a good workout in the gym at work, and all my muscles are jelly. When I get the critters fed, I’m going to make a big batch of sloppy joes and build some burgers. Other than that, it’ll be a knittin’ night.
I had my pre-end-of-year-eval with my boss today, and he really didn’t have anything to tell me. He did give me a few details about what sent me to his office in a tizzy last month - apparently the guy who told me bad things were being said was himself fueling it. He was assigned as team lead for the first time, and it was stressing him something awful. But he got talked to by several folks (I kinda feel bad about that) and my boss assured me that if I’d been screwing up, he’d have said something.
He also talked about the pay raise/bonus distribution guidance and while he fights to get us max raise and minimum bonus (the final number is the same regardless of the distribution) I am aware that because of my position in the pay band, I’ll probably get more bonus and less raise. Of course, we don’t know what the bottom line will be until Congress and the Prez decide how much of a raise will be budgeted. However it falls out is fine by me. Frankly, with the deficit being what it is, I wouldn’t be upset if we didn’t get a raise, provided our national debt was reduced… but that won’t happen.
Woooooot! My daughter passed the driver test at the DMV! She is now an officially licensed driver and I won’t have to cart her to and fro anymore!
I’m home now (duh), but need to head out in a bit to go to the grocery store.
I should go to the Dept of Licensing to transfer title on my son’s car, I’ll wait until tomorrow for that, I think.
I need to get some household chores done today, because it looks like we’re hanging with our friends tomorrow. So much for a quiet weekend.
FCM, even if we fed employees didn’t receive a raise, it wouldn’t be enough to balance the budget. I’m sorry, but I want my raise. The raise won’t be enough to cover the increase in my healthcare premiums as it is, so every little bit helps. Yes, I realize I’m damn lucky to have a job, and damn lucky to have a job with health insurance bennies, but I work hard for my money and deserve a little sump’n-sump’n.
Yay for Tatersdaughter! Does she get to pay for the insurance also?
Sonny’s was good. They have this basket deal goin’ right now. I ordered one that had two big ribs, a big smoked chicken boob, baked beans and cornbread and I’s stuffded. It was teh nummy too!
Oh, today was not all berzerk re iphone mms. I’m guessin’ everybody’s over at iTunes gettin’ their updates and crashin’ the site. Tomorrow they’ll be all confused about how it works and call.
I make good burgers, in case anyone was wondering. Plus I made a mega-batch of sloppy joes - some in the fridge for Sunday, and some in the freezer for a future meal. Plus 6 burgers in the freezer. I’ve been busy. Glad I can sit down now.
Yay for licensed daughter! As nervous as I was when my kid got her license, it was a relief not to have to play chauffeur.
Off to finish reading my funnies and Dear Abby, then I’ll assume the knit position. **FCD **and I are going to Balto tomorrow to look at an aquarium. Since he’s been helping daughter set hers up in the classroom, he wants one of his own again. Salt water. The one we’re going to look at (from Craigslist) is 125 gallons. Yeah…
I managed to get some chores done, but then had to go to the CU with my son. I had him stop at Safeway on the way back so I could pick up a couple of things.
Mr. Taters is still at work. He started at around 4:30 this morning, so this is one long-assed day for him. On top of that, he has to attend a “mandatory” meeting. This will only serve to make him crabbier. He’s going to be damn tired when he gets home. I plan to make sure I have a cold adult beverage waiting for him when he walks in the door.
Gaah. I want summer to be over! If the weather people are right fall will be here with a vengeance on Tuesday. Heck, Wednesday they’re saying there’s a tiny chance of rain/snow showers. Probably nothing will fall, or there might be a few random flakes mixed in if anything does, but so much for summer! I thought it was giving out at the end of August but it rallied and is still sorta here. I hope the door doesn’t hit it on the way out. It was nice. I want lovely cool weather now. Summer can come back next year when I’m ready for it.
I got a call this evening from a woman from a bar somewhere who had had more than a few before deciding a loud bar was a great place to yell your credit card info and your address into your cell. Nothing like trying to get credit card numbers straight from somebody who is at least one sheet to the wind and well on her way to three. I’d rather that than the rare pervert who calls, though! She did book five rooms, though…hope she remembers she did in the morning. I think she was taking notes. I wonder how legible those are going to be.
