A hale and hearty FU to Vision World (kinda lame, but I'm pissed)

I was finally able to afford new glasses. Yeah! I’ve known for a few years that I needed a new prescription, so I saved and scrimped to be able to go wild when picking frames (what’s the sense of having a new scrip only to put the new lenses in old frames?) Having working in opthalmics for a few years, I knew which places to go. I knew I could not afford to go to the optical shop attached to my optometrists office, so the next best bet was Vision World.

It’s been 7 years since I had new frames. Styles have changed, materials are better. I swear I looked at every frame in the place. Finally decided on a pair of lovely rimless for daily wear and a pair of funky frames for sunglasses. That was on a Thursday. Was told they would be in anywhere from 3-7 days later. Paid a buttload of money for my new specs, left thinking “Cool! Next Thursday I’ll be looking good!”

Go to pick them up last Thursday (a full week, which is what I was told they would for sure be in). Store was PACKED. Waited about 45 minutes to pick up my glasses. Open the sunglasses… they’re fine. Except for the left lens being a tad loose in the frame. Fixed, no big deal. Open my beautiful, bloody expensive, rimless glasses.

Umm, this is silver. I ordered gold. “We didn’t have time to check them in. If you had waited for us to call you…” What, the frame color would have MAGICALLY changed to gold? :smack: She pulls out the order, confirms they should be gold frames (duh!). States she will send them back to the lab, they’ll be in Tuesday (yesterday).

SO! I go to pick them up yesterday. No, I didn’t wait for them to call- it was 6:30pm. Silly me, figured if I was told they would be in, they would be in, right? Nope. Again, I waited for about 30 minutes only to find THEY LOST THEM. The dip that helped me last Thursday THINKS she sent them in. She calls the lab. They don’t know where they are. I expressed that I was unhappy- I’m leaving on vacation at 4:30 today, not back until Monday, I REALLY wanted my glasses beforehand. She asked if I was going to be home… wasn’t planning on it, but I was jonsing for my new specs, so I went home and waited.
And waited.
And waited.
No call.

I call this morning. Now they cannot find ANY RECORD OF MY GLASSES ANYWHERE. They have disappeared off the face of the earth! Now, I understand they’re not huge. I understand mistakes happen. BUT DAMMIT! DON’T SAY YOU’RE GOING TO CALL THEN DON’T! Get the lenses in your office and I will assemble the things! Half a frickin’ grand ~poof~.

But! They’ll call me. They’ll find out what happened. Yeah, ya have a GREAT fucking track record of doing just that, doncha? :mad:

Go higher up the food chain with your complaints. If this is a franchise or chain, there should be some head office you can complain to. If you outline your frustrations, and make your point clearly, you might get some satisfaction in the form of reduced cost. Actually, i would include in the letter that you would like some form of restitution for the time and inconvenience caused by their incompetence.
