A Hot Time in the Old Town This Week

One night when we was all asleep in bed
Old lady Leary lit a lantern in the shed
N’ when the cow kicked it over, she winked her eye and said
“It’ll be a hot time in the old town tonight!”

[Hey, it’s the version I learned - YMMV]

Chicago had an old building burn down in the west Loop at the beginning of the week.

Then another building burned on the south end of the Loop in the 600 block of South Wabash. The air was pretty foul the next morning on the way to work, smelled like and old trash and leaf fire.

The air finally starts clearing and…

… the 5th floor west side microwave at work had a meltdown. Really. It wasn’t what was inside the oven that started to stink and smoke, it was the oven itself. I had been on the phone reporting Suspicious Noises Coming Out of the Microwave when I hear gagging sounds and notice billowing clouds of – well, it looked like thick fog more than smoke but whatever it was, it didn’t belong inside the building.

Some brave soul unplugged the thing, although if they hadn’t I was about to pull the fire alarm to get everyone off the floor.

NASTY!

Nasty burned plastic fumes. ICK! AGH!

THE WEEK - IT BURNS!

stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it

Enough already.
