A Lake Effect MMP

Emergncy Request
would anyone like to take over tomorrow? about two hours ago I got hit suddenly with a very nasty stomach flu (or food poisoning) - I’ve only now just emerged from the euphamism. I’ll host sometime in March. But right now I am completely wiped out and very thankful there is no work tomorrow.

I can whip up something, rosie, if you need someone to take over.

ETA: Unless someone else has a burning desire to. I don’t have anything particular in mind, just some spare time on my hands.

ETA2: Stomach illnesses suck. Feel better soon, rosie!

I hope you feel better soon, rosie.

I think I’ll be okay by morning. The room isn’t spinning quite as violently as it was early. Thankyou Haze for stepping in

Feel better rosie!

Ugh, rosie, hope you feel better soon.

Well, I shamed myself into cleaning the fridge. I found a jar of pickles with a use-by date in 2001. I’m guessing it was left behind by the Easts and I didn’t check them out when we moved in. I tossed a bunch of salsa, too - I don’t eat the stuff, and apparently **FCD ** didn’t like it or didn’t want it or something. I also found some yogurt in the back from July.

But really, overall, there wasn’t that much evil in there. Mostly I just had to wash all the shelves and get the sticky stuff off them. But it’s all good now. And the dishwasher is loaded and the sink has been scrubbed.

Oh, and a bonus - I found a bottle of Bailey’s caramel. I need to test it to make sure it’s still good.

Evenin’ Mumpers!

Rosie I hope you feel better. Soon. :frowning:

Thanks for hosting us Soapy.

If Davis isn’t big enough for the both of us, Beebs do you wanna declare a boundary line? :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t know about a precedent, but it’s kinda cool, huh? I added you to my AIM list, I hope that’s OK. My AIM is in my profile.

Count me in the crew for Key West! Florida instead of Boston, sounds Great!

Get better, Rosie. Hugs when you’re not contagious.

Drive by. Pooped after fire school; no good stories. Did one rescue call tonight, for a domestic violence bar fight. 19 yo kid wth a bad attitude took exception to having his goldbricking ass thrown out of mom’s house.

Day off tomorrow. w00t!

The Kid went to work today, her first shift since all that happened at her school Thursday. All of the ladies she worked with flocked around her and fussed about her being ok, and how worried they were about her. That was nice. BTW - she sells “fine jewelry” (i.e. high end watches, and gemstones) at the Hoity Toity department store in the mall by us here.

So… store closes at 7, the doors to the mall - where she works is right next to the mall entrance to her store - are halfway closed while everyone and the security people do whatever they do when the mall closes. Suddenly there’s a noise. Like a, uh, a gunshot? Followed by 3-4 more really quickly, and this time everyone’s decided they ARE gunshots.

Kid screams, other women scream. Kid says to herself “oh, WTF?” (Except in telling the story, she used the actual english language verbiage). Ladies stand there momentarily terrified, about to abandon ship, when they see one of the store’s loss prevention guys, who are off-duty cops in plainclothes, walk by cool as a cucumber.

My offspring repeats her previous comment, however with a bit more urgency - to said cop.

“Oh, that? they’re doing mock hostage rescues tonight after-hours. All the county and local HRT’s are in the exercises”

Kid: “Well it was really f-ing (except there were no dashes in her actual words) nice to tell people that we’d be hearing gunfire three days after I raced out of my dorm room in Dekalb!!!”

Cop: “yeah, good point miss”

She was at least laughing about it when she got home and told us the story.

Oh, and I ate too much. Wife made us some sort of baked ravioli dish that was so good.

Urp.

Well, then, what are we waiting for!

Wow, MBG. That’s just dumb - even if there hadn’t just recently been a shooting.

Thanks for jumping in, Hank! I’ll update my sig in a moment.

Hope you feel better very quickly, rosie.

I’ve put some laundry away, been grocery shopping and am crawling into bed to watch Sabrina.

I refuse to set my alarm clock for tomorrow, even though I’m going in. I’m considering driving in because there’s free parking across the street from our building, since it’s a holiday. Also, there’s towing before 9:00 and after 4, so I’ll have to limit my stay, which I really really want to do anyway. We’ll see how that works out.

See everyone in the new MMP.

Laundry dried, dog walked, dinner eated, beer drunk.
