Doh, stupid me, I should have looked first, I found out how to do it in this thread

Amedeus, I’m sure someone will ask you this at some point in your SDMB career, and I’ll be the first! Was your username inspired by Wolfgang A. Mozart’s middle name? Because Herr Mozart spelled his middle name Amadeus.

I found a lot of spellings like yours for the composer, but in case they are all typos, just tell them you meant this guy.

The History of the Academy of Sciences of Turin

The Academy originates from the originates from the “Società Privata”, an academic society founded in 1757 by the great matematician G.L. Lagrange, the doctor Cigna and the chemist G.A. Saluzzo. The success of the volume Miscellanea philosophico-mathematica the notoriety of the society and the favour it enjoyed from Prince Victor Amedeus of Savoy it’s name changed to “Società reale” - royal society - in 1759. Illustrious scientists, some of them foreign (including Monge, Laplace, D’Alembert), began to join the society and contacts with similar academies abroad, including those across the Atlantic, grew closer.
When Victor Amedeus III come to the throne, a royal decree of 25 july 1783 changed the society’s name again to Accademia Reale delle Scienze (Royal Academy of Science). It was also given sizeble annual subsidy and, a few years later, the site it still holds today

Eventually, I figured out how to do cool hyperlinks that light up the text and all that.
