A Live Reading of The Princess Bride?

If I understand this correctly, actors sit on stage with the script and say the lines as the movie plays in the background? What am I missing here? Other than being in the same room as some big name actors, what’s the point of a “live read”

Point? It demonstrates ACTING - where it is just the actor, the words and the audience. No makeup, no costuming, no props, no stage dressing. It is a skill demonstration.

It also highlights the script. It sounded stupid to me too when I first heard of it, but now I’m intrigued and would like to see a video of the reading.

Here’s a bit more about it.

It is a little off-putting at first to watch a staged reading or reading but you get used to it after a few minutes and it just becomes a performance. I would have given all the money I have (which is not very much) to see this. Seriously.

It’s actually very cool if you go see one in person. You imagination, as an audience member, ends up kicking in a lot more than it would in a fully staged performance. It ends up being a lot like listening to a radio play, but in person. It’s fun.

So, it happened, and by all accounts it was incredible. Cary Elwes passing the torch to Paul Rudd. Nick Kroll stealing the show as Rugen. Patton Oswalt completely reinventing Vizzini.

But I can’t find video anywhere on the web. Was this recorded? Is it available for viewing by any means?
