I've only just discovered The Princess Bride

Good, isn’t it?

P.S. No spoilers about Buttercup’s Baby please, I haven’t read that bit yet.

It’s better than iocaine powder, that’s for sure.

No, you should have discovered The Princess Bride a long time ago.

You might find that the word “addictive” is a better adjective than “good” when applied to the movie. You’ll also find quotations coming to your mind in appropriate situations.

It’s inconceivable that you didn’t discover it before now!

I know, I’ve been aware of people raving about it for years but only just got around to buying a copy recently when I was in a bookshop and at a loose end. Probably have to wait until the film turns up on TV, as I haven’t got a DVD player.

That word - I no think it means what you think it does.

Si

If you need an excuse to buy a DVD player, then The Princess Bride is the best possible excuse.

Hey, an excuse for shopping - I like the way you think!

As you wish.

Oh, it’s already been on TV. Quite often. You just weren’t paying attention

I can’t imagine not having watched The Princess Bride.

pointing at Ellef TROGLODYTE!

Lucky stiff. If only I could go back to my first time.

I guess you mean the book? It’s a great book!

The film is also really great. But for the last several years, I have not been able to watch it due to the sound track. It’s really dated MIDI and it’s very distracting. I wish they’d reissue the movie with an actual orchestral soundtrack.

I have the good fortune to own a copy signed by the author Best wishes to you and yours. S Morgenstern

That must be veeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrry rare indeed!

It’s a great book. But make sure to read the original and not that hack Goldman’s abridgement. It can be hard to find an unabridged English translation, but it’s worth it.

Are you offering to find me a copy?
