An article in the NY Times:
Essentially, there would be a wide orange line painted on the ice that would run around the boards. It would act as a “warning track” because it is against the board that most traumatic head injuries occur.
The proponents of this are not advocating rule changes. It would just be a safety measure. While I don’t see it being adopted in the NHL I can see that it might be valuable in youth and high school hockey.
