Oddly, so far the Trump administration seems to be about in line with the Obama ad as far as protecting gun rights. They argued against letting non-violent offenders own guns, which the NRA was in favor of. (I am neutral on this one, I see points on both sides).
It is possible the Trump admin will be a friend to Gunowners, but so far they are not.
Heller, the best SCOTUS dec for gunowners ever was decided during the Obama admin.
The part I don’t understand is why they haven’t yet rolled back the Medicaid expansion. I mean, I’m glad they didn’t, but I don’t understand it. That’s one point that all of the Republican factions in power agree on, and that point can be passed via reconciliation. Heck, they could even tell their base that in doing so, they’ve “repealed Obamacare”.
DrDeth, don’t forget that the only thing relating to guns that Obama actually did, he got criticized by the Republicans for not exerting enough gun control.
Because under the arcane rules of reconciliation, that might be it for a year for spending cuts via reconciliation, unless Congress passes another budget resolution.
Somehow the drastic reduction of standing in the world the US has undergone as a result of Trump, as well as the straining of intelligence networks due to his big fat stupid mouth, doesn’t qualify as a “calamity”. But keep in mind, Trump has literally not had to deal with a serious problem yet. There hasn’t been anything that actually tests his administration yet. No major natural disaster, no major terror attack, no wartime shift. Trump hasn’t had to test his mettle under any more than the most ordinary circumstances, and he still keeps fucking it up.
How bad would a president have to be for you to say, “Yeah, okay, sure, the republican might get to appoint a few supreme court members, but fucking hell his politics are disgusting and I can’t support this”? No really, how incapable of doing their fucking job would they have to be? Because right now, I think Mel Carnahan would make a better president, and Mel Carnahan died in 2000 before beating John Ashcroft in an election.
It’s not like this was an issue on the campaign trail or anything…
