Is there such a thing as a machine gun that fires shotgun shells, either belt fed or in a clip?

The USAS-12 & AA12 are.
I need to get one of these.
Get a class III firearm license. I think thats what you need for one.

What I’d want is a cheap, pistol grip shotgun. Its just nice to look at.

Great minds think alike!
In any case, the AA12 has a rate of fire of six rounds per second, or 360 rounds per minute. Of course, that’s theoretical: The operating instructions say to fire three round bursts.
And if you don’t follow the instructions for a full-auto 12 gauge, what instructions will you follow?
Not sure why you would want a full-auto shotgun, it would be very hard to control as a hand weapon. Benelli and other manufacturers make really nice semi-auto shotguns that are a joy to use.
Very difficult to get even if you are a class III dealer. Not only is a machine gun but a destructive device since it is larger than .50 caliber. The only way a dealer can even get his hands on one is if an agency who is entitled to purchase one asks a dealer to get one for demonstration.
…As far as pistol grips go, the guns are AK-based but I don’t know if other stocks will fit on these receivers–you’d have to ask around on gun boards.

you didn’t read the specs my friend, both of these weapons are semi-auto, they just have really big magazines
Yes, it is a DD. But even every machine gun manufactured or imported after 1986 requires an agency “demo letter” for a Class III dealer to purchase. This is what people are talking about when they refer to Pre-Sample and Post-Sample. A Post-Sample machine gun can only be sold when the dealer is in possession of an agency’s request for demonstration.
This is basically just another hoop to jump through. It’s not that big a deal. We had a demonstration letter from a department that listed pretty much every machine gun we would ever want to buy. When you run a machine gun store, it’s easy to get the Sheriff to do favors for you. “I scratch your back, you scratch mine”
I once sold two Post-Sample belt fed machine guns to a pediatrician up north. He was also a Class III SOT holder, so he was able to buy the weapons, but even he needed an agency demo letter. He faxed me a demo letter that included some of the most exotic and ridiculous stuff a law enforcement agency would never want.
Hell, what agency actually wants BELT-FEDS??? Other than maybe NASA’s SWAT team, but that’s a whole other story
here ya go
If I am remembering right (and was informed correctly) a shotgun is not considered a destructive device unless it falls under-length for OAL, or has an under-length barrel… I swear I read this somewhere fairly-legitimate… That is to say: there is a classification of “short-barreled rifle”, but no classification for “short-barreled shotgun”. A short-barreled shotgun falls under DD. I think.

No, DougC. A “Full-Auto” shotgun is a Destructive Device. Not a normal shotgun. Also, a “Street Sweeper” - a Semi-auto with a rotating cylinder, is also a destructive device. Which is ironic because it shoots off rounds much slower than a semi-auto Benelli. But whatever… that’s legislation.
Posted a bit too soon. Even a semi-auto USAS12 is a Destructive Device. It’s not just about size. It’s whether the Secretary feels they are “for sporting purposes” or not.
You’re not completely off about about smooth bores though. A 37mm “grenade launcher” - or, “flare launcher” - is easy to buy. It’s not rifled. But several years ago the ATF went buck wild on evil looking shotguns and made most of them all Destructive Devices. People who already owned them had like a year to register them with the ATF.
Besides, you can buy magazine adapters for 1187s, 870s, 590s, or 1300s. The Saiga, if I may, is a peice of crap with American plastic-cased ammunition, and is more novelty than effective and reliable weapon. In other words, not even close to a USAS-12 or Pancor Jackhammer. (Neither of which, BTW, have entered common use, even in armed forces, due to weight and complexity [among other reasons]. 12ga gets heavy once you start talking about 20 rounds+ in the weapon itself…)
