A marathon a day. All Year

…is what this New Zealand couple is hoping to achieve in 2013.

Oh, and they’re both over 60.
And they’re going to be doing it on a raw vegan diet.

Now I will admit my first thought on reading this was “holy crap, they are so dead” - but it turns out, from their linked website, they have previously run the length of New Zealand - 51 marathons in 51 days. So…maybe?

Still. Holy crap they are so going to feel dead.

They’re Australians, not New Zealanders.

Eddie Izzard managed something similar with no training. 43 marathons in 51 days. He was going to do another bunch in South Africa but called it off due to “unforeseen medical complications.”

The term for people like that is ultrarunners. There are more of them. Many have physical differences from the rest of us, so that doing this is easier for them then it would be for us.

If little oldvegetarian monks from Japan can handle 200 days of daily 40km runs year after year, I think they’ll have no problem

Wow! Those guys are hard core!

I hope they make it, but just don’t see it happening at all.

We have one of them over here :

I was extremely impressed with his 20 triathlons in a year.
