I’ve been following Eddie’s Twitter feed for a while, and I think what he’s doing is admirable and damned impressive. He’s running from London to Cardiff, from Cardiff to Belfast, from Belfast to Edinburgh, and Edinburgh back to London. He’s doing 30 miles a day (that’s a marathon plus a bit) every day six days a week until he’s finished. So far he’s done eight marathons in nine days. All to raise money for Africa. Not bad for an aging transvestite.
I’m not usually one to cheerlead every little thing people try to do to make the world a better place, but I have to take my hat off to him for this one. That’s some serious dedication. When I open up Twitter, I see messages from lots of very funny people plugging their shows or articles or albums or playing silly games. Scattered throughout are these messages from Eddie documenting his progress around the island. It makes for quite a contrast.
Anyway, if you want to support him financially, I’ll let you google that yourself so as not to run afoul of board rules - it’s not hard to find. I just thought this was a story more people should be aware of.
Eddy’s OK but I wish he would do a bit more to say that a man wearing a dress is no different from a woman wearing a wearing pants (like about 80% do) and it says no more about his sexual likings than her jeans do.
Eh. He’s done that, and said exactly that in “Dress to Kill,” and I don’t think he wants to be that guy anymore. I think he usually wears male clothes onstage at this point. Perhaps he wants to be known for his talent and not just his clothes.
This is a really impressive undertaking and for a good cause. Cheers to him for it.
Awwwwww. I love Eddie. This is quite a feat to undertake. I had no idear he was a runner!!
He’s probably running from someone covered in bees. Wish I had some extra cash to donate to the cause. Perhaps I’ll just pop over to his website and give him some rah-rahs.
On his twitters, Eddie’s talked about how, for career reasons, he has to be in Boy Mode at the moment. He still has Girl Mode, but an actor is all about his image, and he needs to emphasize Boy Mode for the moment. Which sort of sucks but I don’t blame him for being pragmatic about it. He’s not denying his Girl Mode or anything - it’s just he’s got bills to pay just like the rest of us.
Nine straight days of marathons. Damn. I am such a wimp.
About 2 years ago I saw Eddie perform in Vegas. He was in Boy Mode b/c of his work on The Riches, I believe. He got some mild heckling from the audience along the lines of “Eddie, we love you! Why don’t you have a dress on! Where’s your makeup!”
He has the best line–“Hey! I am a transvestite. I don’t have to dress like one to prove it!”
And I never thought I’d join Twitter. I was wrong. Eddie–you got me there.
Dude, really? That is beyond cool! Maybe I should get on twitter so I can properly give props to my fellow TV. Woo! I had no idea he was this atheletic and s&^$. Damn that’s cool.
I’m still following his story on Twitter. A week ago or so he said he was beginning to feel worn out. He said he’s eating constantly, but it’s like his body is wearing out faster than he can replenish it. I can’t even imagine…
