Of course you didn’t; I’d never dream of making a claim that was trivially refutable either. However, this doesn’t answer the question of why the burgeoning fashion-mag business is able to stay afloat (and why any corresponding fashion-mag business aimed at men would be quite a niche market). Granting the hyperbole of the OP’s claim - and it was a less than stellar OP - you can still see why the stereotype would exist. Mind you, on volume alone I’d think that addiction to gossip magazines would be a more reasonable stereotype.
And, at the risk of offering up stereotypes myself, I’ll point to the “Firey Latina” and “Big Momma” as the overtly aggressive women in cultures that do encourage such behavior. I live on the north side of Chicago, next to a predominantly Mexican neighborhood, and I’ve seen more girl-fights than man fights on the streets. (I’ve also been watching “Weeds” on DVD, and I don’t doubt Heylia could open a mean can o’ whoop ass, though she usually gets things accomplished with a tongue lashing.)
