Modern life creates so many pressures that the least sound brains among us have become fried. Q.e.d. conservatism, gun nuts and People of God, among others. Everyone seems to need an outlet for their craziness.

It’s the “lukewarm Christians” slam that bugs me.
“Atheists and unbelievers” I get: God is the bouncer at your club, and there’s a clear rule on who gets past the velvet rope. But then there are other people who’ve consulted their consciences, arrived at the conviction that there is God and Jesus is his human manifestation/conduit, and try to live as good people according to those precepts.
That’s still not good enough for the Witnesses. But of course, that’s not witnessing; it’s cross-examining, and the correct reply is “asked and answered.”
I’m long since disillusioned by the inherent paradox of an “atheist community,” so I wouldn’t know, but do they go around accusing each other of not being atheist enough? What’s the atheist version of Holier than Thou? “Ayer-theist” or “atheister?”

You can shoot summarily on principle. Luke 19:29-35 is clear evidence that he was a horse thief, that constitutes a capital crime in some eras/regions.
