romansperson back in 2014 you sent me a gift for the Santa Exchange. One of the items was an astronomy themed shirt which I absolutely loved. It even glows in the dark. Today I made that shirt into a pillow for my trailer!
Wow - that looks great! Fantastic idea.
I sent a bunch of my old T-shirts to this place a couple years ago and had them turn the lot into a blanket. I love it - it’s a great way to repurpose them.
Yeah it worked well. I’m pretty pleased with it! Anyway I thought you’d enjoy seeing it!
I did! And now I’ll have to make one myself!
It’s a no-sew pillow. You just cut out the shape and cut tassels along all four sides, then tie the tassels together leaving a space for stuffing, then finish tying.
After my son died, his fiance took a bunch of his t-shirts and made quilts for me and my daughter. My quilt is made of the t-shirts he got at different hockey tournaments he was in when he was a kid. The front of the shirts have whatever the tournament was called and on the back is a list of all the teams with the players’ names. In one corner of the quilt is a square with the outline of his hand. It is a priceless gift that I will cherish forever.
Now that I see that easy no-sew pillow, I’m getting ideas! I could make all of the grandkids (his kids and his nieces and nephew) pillows using the t-shirts of his I still have.
I love the idea of a remembrance quilt - like a hug from the missing person.
The no-sew pillows are super easy to make. I’ve made a few now and they take about 2 hours from start to finish. There are also lots of instruction videos on youtube. There’s a few different ways to attach the seams but I usually go with the fringe.
I’ve done this with felt squares, squeakers and polyfill to make dog toys, never tried it for a human pillow lest the dogs make a mistake. I’m currently dogless, though, so good for now.
