Ahh, must be over your head. 1920’s style.
I don’t get the humor in this.
It must be…
Ok…this went right over my head…
OVER MY HEAD!!!
(darts eyes, eases away from thread)
This is a good opportunity to link to my favorite Family Circus takeoff:
THIS
In The Funny Papers, Keene says that he usually isn’t trying to be funny with The Family Circus, but is going more for a warm fuzzy feeling. It’s supposed to work like an old-fashioned family sitcom, making people smile in recognition of something similar that has happened in their family.
Would I go to jail if I used a 1920’s style death ray on the author of Family Circus?
No. Members of the SDMB would rally round and give you an alibi. The only problem is how would you account for being spotted by several people on different parts of at least 3 different continents and a handful of islands at the same time?
Oh, yes. You got the deluxe accessory cloning package with that death ray.

(ducking)
Baraqiyal, excellent link! I’m fascinated by the fact that Bil Keane has that comic on the official Family Circus website: maybe the man does have a sense of humor after all.

Ukulele Ike thanks for the heads-up on the Daily News–yes, it is available here.As for how the Family Circus strip was funny-well , hell , I can’t explain it…it just made me laugh.I admitted it was a miracle, after all.
I can’t find any Family Circus online that have appeared within the past week.
Trunk ,thanks for the Boondocks link.If the Post-Standard carried that, that would have made 2 that made me laugh, but in the Boondocks case it wouldn’t have been miraculous , just typical.
Ugh…
Read his “Story of my life…”
Very very witty…in a nice 1920’s sorta way.
If he does, he didn’t acquire said sense of humor until after he got The Dysfunctional Family Circus shut down.
Bil Keane does have a sense of humor - he’s a fan of Zippy the Pinhead.
I thought Jeffy had taken over The Family Circus, though.
And Opus, while I’m excited about it, is just two strips in - it’s not time to call it the second coming of Krazy Kat just yet.
The Albany Times-Union. Also, the Buffalo News, the Elmira Star-Gazette, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, and the Syracuse Post-Standard. Here’s a list of papers that carries it (an incomplete list…I know it is in the Washington Post, but that isn’t on that page)
tracer, did the Dysfunctional Family Circus add new captions to his existing cartoons? If so, it may’ve been a copyright issue, and his publishers may’ve insisted on it.
(I’ve seen such cartoons, and they amuse the hell out of me. My favorite showed all the kids sitting around with pipes in their mouths from which bubbles emerged; Dolly remarks, “Crack is fun, but it stunts your growth!”)

Usually Family Circus is sickenly glurgy. But did anyone else think this panel was a little, I don’t know, disquieting?
I am SO disappointed!
I opened this to find out that Johnny Hart had actually :
-
Not mentioned his religion
OR
-
written something funny again.
My whole world is shattered.
okay maybe not shattered but…
