I really thought my very first O.P. would be on a different topic , but I am compelled to alert my fellow Dopers to a miraculous occurence in yesterday’s (11/30/'03) comics section – the only comic that had me laughing out loud was – prepare yourself – “Family Circus”! If I had thought of it sooner I’d have looked for it online and provided a link - sorry.
If Family Circus was the only comic that made me laugh, I think I’d go into the den, write a farewell to my family, load the revolver with one round, and do the right thing.
Balle, I take it that all the other comic-page artists would be lined up in a neat row in your den?

Okay people, we’ve got a situation here. williamweigand needs 500cc’s of Ringer’s Lactate and a copy of The Farside Gallery, stat!
We need to act fast or he could go into shock and try to read Cathy.
Come on william, stay with us. Remember, Opus is back.
That same paper where I read that surprisingly funny “Family Circus” also carries , in a different section, excerpts from “The Complete Far Side”…but not enough of the funny ones.Unfortunately , they don’t carry Opus. Could any Dopers tell me which papers carry Opus ?
Ok…this went right over my head…
Ok…this went right over my head…
Ok…this went right over my head…
Ok…this went right over my head…
Ok…this went right over my head…
Don’t hit me.
Otherwise you’d need more than one bullet, wouldn’t you?
Daniel
I actually chuckled at a Ziggy in the Sunday paper this week.
What’s that over my head!? OMG, it’s…it’s…THIS!
Stop it! Stop it right now! We will not have another 1920’s Death Ray think going on here.
I mean “thing”.
Yes, stop it! Because if this catches on, people will start asking where it comes from, and then they’ll get pointed back to this thread with my joke, and my joke was lame and imminently forgettable, and I do not want to be known for it. Hush up, y’all!
Daniel
So for those of us who don’t read Family Circus, what was the joke?
And my local paper does get Opus.
I didn’t save it,so I can’t quote it exactly.Also,it was more of a visual joke than a punchline…but here goes…The grandmother is reassuring Dolly that she,too,played with dolls as a kid.The next panel shows Dolly’s imagination of her Grandma as a kid–showing a little girl’s body topped by a white-haired , elderly woman’s face.
Also, does anyone know of a paper available in upstate NY that carries “Opus”?
I actually laughed at “Garfield” once in October and once in November! I wonder if it’ll be three months in a row…
And this is funny…how? I saw it and it kinda grossed me out. Plump little girl knees and wrinkly ol’ face.
The New York Daily News newspaper carries “Opus.” That’s available in most places upstate, no?
