Today a man came and took all my shows away! Our DVR has been acting more and more psychotic lately, and we finally decided to call to get it fixed. They had to replace it.
Just off the top of my head, I’ve lost one or more of:
House
Burn Notice
Worst Week
My Name Is Earl
Fringe
Psych
Chuck
Big Love
and perhaps most dire: Yo Gabba Gabba, known to reliably hypnotize both children for 20 minutes while I cook dinner.
Thank goodness most shows are available online. Now to get the husband to jerry-rig the laptop to the big TV . . .
When I recently switched from Time Warner Cable to DirecTV I had a bunch of stuff on my DVR that I had to copy to VHS tapes, either because I hadn’t gotten around to watching them or because I was saving them to watch again (like the Hallmark Channel movies with Dick Van Dyke as a criminology professor, which as far as I can tell are not available on DVD.)
A couple weeks ago I was in the middle of watching 30 Rock when the DVR went nuts and resetted. When it started up again, everything was wiped and back to a few months ago, effectively deleting everything for the last 3 months. Curse you DVR demons!
I had a weird problem with my Tivo where it reverted my Season Passes back to where they were 6 months ago, so I lost any Season Passes I had added since then, and old ones came back. I think it had something to do with cancelling a Season Pass for a show that was downloaded from the web. I didn’t lose any shows, but it took me quite a while to get my Season Passes straight again.
Ya–me too. A couple of weeks ago my dvr croaked and I lost the whole season of “10 Items or Less”, as well as a couple of shows I’d been saving for a couple of years.
