why is it at the end of every movie, the end credits show the year the film was made in roman numerals, why?
My guess is that they’re trying to show a bit of class. That’s the only reason Roman Numerals are used anymore, no?
It’s another “they’ve always done it that way.” There’s no legal reason to do it.
My WAG is that this was done in an attempt to disguise how old the movie was. It’s pretty hard to figure out MCMLXXXIV with the tiny font and slow crawl up the screen. Of course, it’s a cinch with movies made in MMI.
