You’re the person joining those dots, not me…
Can anyone enlighten me as to this conspiracy angle I keep seeing where people want camera footage of the shooter getting his guns up to the room? Like they don’t believe he had that many or something? They believe he had help?
Maybe there’s a simple explanation. Maybe at certain high-end hotels when you show up with a heavy bag some dude who works at the hotel will offer to carry it up to your room for you! And if you had several bags they’d fetch a cart with wheels and roll your shit upstairs! Why does there have to be some stupid conspiracy about this? Like was it supposed to be Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders helping him or something? Some poor bellhop is probably on the verge of suicide right now having become an unwitting accomplice to mass murder in the name however much money the shooter was known to tip. Nope, can’t be that, it’s got to be a conspiracy. “He had help, he wasn’t acting alone, there was a second shooter on the grassy knoll.” Fuck outta here with that.
You’re the one refusing to, not me.
I’ll think you’ll find Bernie was actually in a suitcase. He leapt out saying ‘the real truth is it’s gonna be yuge’
Other than that, it’s almost like people can’t carry items in and out of rooms, when they book in and at any point after.
+1
Stupidists are quite opposed to gay marriage. I’m surprised they don’t think “if you can’t beat 'em, join 'em!” and ask for the right to marry their handguns and rifles.
Perhaps the reason they don’t is concern about polygamy laws: If they marry their Glock, their shotgun would feel jealous. Certainly many or most gunnists find it hard to be faithful to a single fire-arm.
Was it here at SDMB or on a satirical TV show that I heard someone brag that he carries a handgun at home just to give himself time to fight his way to a shotgun cabinet? I wonder if gunnists are aware how pathetic, amoral and confused their whining seems to rational thinkers.
The only people qualified to design gun-control legislation are people who love guns fanatically.
Only Wall Street should design financial regulations. Only big industry should design pollution regulations. The only people qualified to design anti-rape measures are rapists.
I hate all you Stupidists. But I know you Stupidists hate all us rational people and think we’re even stupider than you. What a colossal farce American politics has become.
[Said facetiously, of course, as a reflection of what they think.]
But of course they’re against any regulation of guns at all. So what do they expect? If they want guns to be regulated in a way that does something to reduce gun killings in America while minimizing the impact on what they view as legitimate gun ownership, then they’re the ones who should do it, since they’re the ones who know this shit.
And if they don’t, us libtards who don’t know shit about guns other than they’re lethal weapons and want the killing to stop - us libtards will eventually do what they will inevitably regard as a sucky job of gun regulation.
But if they don’t like that prospect, they should do it first and do it right, rather than whine afterwards.

I understand that you haters gotta hate. OTOH, I don’t hate you, or anyone else. I’m entitled to my opinion just as much as you’re entitled to my opinion. Personally, I don’t think it would be all that difficult for “the LibTards at WaPo”, or progressives, or liberals, or Democrats, or anyone else to understood the difference between a semi-automatic and automatic (machine gun) firearm. They only have to ask the people who are actually familiar with firearms.
Except you don’t actually want them to understand that, because if they do, it will lead them to conclude that even semi-autos should be banned outright, or at least be as controlled as full-autos are.
Why? Because there are lots of gun enthusiasts out there who like to point out that the ban on full-auto (or bump stocks) is nonsensical, because trained shooters are more effective when using disciplined, aimed, semi-auto fire. If that’s true, then we must ban all semi-autos if we truly wish to reduce the amount of carnage a nutbag with a gun can do.
I count myself as familiar with firearms, having been shooting for 3 decades.
How would you class a semi-auto equipped with a bump stock? Do you think the standard distinctions actually apply when, even though you are technically still activating the trigger for each shot, a secondary mechanism is actually doing all the work for you, and giving you a rate of fire upwards of 400rpm?
Yeah? What you gonna do when you’ve pumped thirty-forty rounds into Bambi’s Mom, and she turns on you with murder in her eye!
Question my decision to use a nerf gun?
Whatever you do, be sure you yell “It’s comin’ right at me!” in case anyone is recording it.
In a new wrinkle Jesus Campos, the security guard lauded as a hero in this incident, seems to have disappeared. His actions had sparked internet comments such as “Jesus saves”, “Praise Jesus”, and even “You don’t #@$% with the Jesus”. Speculation is that he’s just keeping a low profile, trump had him deported, conspirators bumped him off as a “loose end”. I say just give it three days, he’ll probably turn up.

Yes, I do want them to understand the subject matter. Especially if they are trying to convince voters to change the status quo. Showing their ignorance about the subject matter isn’t going to convince any knowledgeable person to change their opinion, or change their vote.
OTOH, keep up the good work.

I agree with the NRA that the current administration’s BATFE should consider further restrictions be placed on bump stock-type devices. I won’t accept any Democrat Party bans that will be tacked onto any legislation banning bump stock-type devices.
I have no idea why the 2010 Obama administration’s BATFE chose not to classify a bump stock-type modified weapon as a higher class weapon. Maybe Obama’s BATFE decision-makers were too involved in the 2009-2010 Fast and Furious operation/debacle/scandal, or simply felt that giving people a rate of fire upwards of 400rpm would make people like the BATFE even more than they already do?
Maybe he doesn’t want to be harassed by a rabid news media demanding that he answer the same questions over, and over, and over, and over, etc…
I assume its the same CT’ers who believe that Sandy Hook was faked. Basically having a bunch of people killed by a white gun owner, flies in the face of their belief that only Blacks and Muslims kill people with guns. So they have to shout, Fake News! False Flag! Obama was behind it! in order to keep feeling good about their tribe and avoid cognitive dissonance.
I can’t help but notice you didn’t actually answer my question, namely (underlined for emphasis):
It’s a pretty straight forward question. Do you think that a weapon still counts as a semi auto, for practical purposes, when a bump stock has been fitted?
I would *like *to think that the bulk of them are embarrassed into silence that this time it was one of their own, someone they can’t find a way to characterize as a Bad Guy in a way that characterizes themselves as Good Guys. None of their lame excuses and avoidance tactics work this time.
But are any minds changed? If those views were based on reason, they could be. But they’re based on fear instead.
