A Newish Scam

Just new because of the time they called.

At 2 am we got woken up by a phone call, supposedly from my bank’s security office, saying our card had been compromised by a purchase in China, that they were blocking it, and would send a new one.

It soon became obvious that they had no information on us, and when I requested the guy (Indian accent, natch) give me my address or my account number, he said he would give me his name and employer id number. Big help.

I hung up on him.
The new thing is that he was aware of the state I was in (but not the city) due to the phone number, no doubt, and apologized for calling so early, which is a switch.

We don’t have a caller id on the bedroom phone, but when I checked this morning it said Invalid number. Too early to be blocked by NoMoRobo.
Just posting as a warning since the location and time of the call are new to me.
