Looks like you and I need to stop eating whike posting. Your period is right next to my question mark.
Actually, Dragonblink’s use of the ellipsis (three periods in a row) is correct punctuation usage.
Your abuse of the questionmark, however…isn’t.
Sigh.
Gaudere’s Law strikes again.
question mark.
Hmm, learn something new every day. Somehow missed that in grammar school. Yet according to this cite I just looked up, http://webster.commnet.edu/grammar/marks/ellipsis.htm you SisterCoyote improperly did not provide a space following the last letter prior to your ellipsis or a space following the ellipsis and the continuation of the sentience.
It doesn’t appear to me that it should be used to represent a pause indiscriminantly. According to the cite, the ellipsis is primarily used for ommissions in quotes, or a pause in the flow of a sentence. In that context you, but not Dragonblink were correct.
That was a period followed by an ellipsis by the way.
Jesus Christ, dude. Approximately half of the posts in this thread use elipses; they are used to represent a pause.
READ the fucking definition if you must be a pedantic prick and quote the dictionary:
WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT MEAN TO YOU DUMBFUCK?
[sheepish]My shift key actually did get stuck on that last post, I didn’t mean to shout.[/sheepish]
If you are going to correct people on a point of grammar you don’t understand, you will look like a fool.
See what happens when you try to be clever grammar guy, not only do look foolish, but your typo ratio increases as well.
And this is different for now because . . .
